I thought the Jools Holland A-Z was pretty good, better than some of the usual compilations they do for this show.

Miles better than that awful up-itself Radio 1 Live Lounge crap, too.

Just been watching back the last few episodes of TOTP. Had to chuckle when Richard Skinner said " Hello and welcome to TOTP, where the music may be recorded, but the stars are all here live and in person. "

I don't know how many of you have checked this, but some episodes are trimmed to fit the early time slot, with the full show going out in the late/early morning one.

I am not sure if I have posted this before, but when it comes to the episodes themselves, especially the unaired ones, this site seems to be pretty accurate with who presented the shows, who appeared in the studio, on video and the running order.

The BBC one on Marc Bolan was a bit better than the Sky Arts one. It's weird to reflect that Gloria Jones' most famous hit revolves around the line "the pain you drive into the heart of me", given how Marc died.

Also caught up with the one about Whitney Houston which didn't really blame Clive Davis enough, IMO. But a genuine music business tragedy which destroyed a mother and her child, but left her husband to sail on to other harbours.

Belladrum 2016 - The Tartan Heart Festival on BBC Alba.

The Last Pirates, a pretty decent BBC4 effort from last week about London pirate DJs in the 1980s, though shamefully no mention of Delbert Wilkins.

BBC4 repeating Classic Albums on Tom Petty at 10pm

Sky Arts repeating Classic Albums on Metallica around 12.20am-ish
SA repeating Tom Petty concert tomorrow from 1pm

I've often said that CA is a series which has inspired me to get most of the albums it features, and I can now add the Metallica one which arrived today. I realise this is about 26 years later than most of you, but there we are laugh

I got Nirvana's Nevermind a few weeks back too Tongue

Sky Arts/CA fans might note that tonight around 1am is one on Dark Side of the Moon (which I've got) and tomorrow at 8pm will be one on Lou Reed's Transformer (which I haven't) Tongue

I also caught up with the series Tony Visconti did with Unsigned acts for this big concert. Really good stuff, and many talented people there. Some amusement when Tony kept stressing how he was pleased to hear new versions of stuff, but then when some poor lass learned "Will You?" one way, he corrected her to learn his preferred version instead. And the poor folk singer who learned "Lazarus" instead had to do "Young Americans" with a funk band behind him!
