Yeah alright. I got enough of that from my psychiatristSmile
It just makes me wake up in a cold sweat thinking about it.
It's just incredible that thanks to that joke system you can lose ranking points winning every game. Does the maxim 'you can only beat what comes up against you' mean nothing to FIFA
The way they do things we will probably be drawn in the same group as Spain, Italy and Germany whilst Wales will probably be drawn with Switzerland, northern Ireland and Poland. It's just so daft.

No ranking system would ever work perfectly and even FIFA say the rankings are only approximate, so it's not really worth making a fuss about it.

Wales will find it difficult to maintain their high placing anyway. The fact is that 50% of each team's points comes from their results in 2015 and Wales had only played 2 matches in 2015 when the rankings were last calculated, and one of those was a victory over 2nd placed Belgium.

9th is Wales' highest ever placing - their average is 69th place. England's average is 10th.

just putting it up for debate and having a bit of fun. The ranking system has always been to much of a joke to be taken seriously.

More often than not the rugby rankings are fair and reflective of the teams current level. Though it's gone a bit lopsided this time.

The Rugby rankings tend to be more stable, not because their ranking system is superior, but because the Rugby countries play each other much more often. Football countries tend to play fairly few other countries and that makes compiling rankings a big problem.

I don't think there needs to be. Just go by Form in qualifications and performances in finals. As mentioned previously it is ridiculous that England could be leap frogged in the rankings by Wales and Romania whilst being the first team to qualify for the finals and winning every game. They seem to do ranking like it's boxing i.e. Best a top seed opponent and you climb exponentially up the ladder. It should be based on consistency of results and performances at tournaments. I read in the times that if everything went perfectly Wales way in terms of results all round they could be ranked number 2. That is just such a load of bollocks.

Rooney will be going all out tonight against Switzerland to be the England international record scorer of all time.

But Booby Charlton's record was always special when you think that he played in midfield.

The scoreline flattered England, but congratulations to Rooney in becoming England's top scorer of all time.

With victory over Switzerland, England remain the only side to have a 100% record in the Euro 2016 qualifiers (P8 W8 D0 L0).

You can bet those stats will end promptly once they play in the finals Big Grin
