Incredible shoot-style bout between two of the very best practitioners of that 'niche' style. As a huge Takada fan this was my favourite of all their bouts together. Awesome heat, and brilliantly worked. I do wish Nobuhiko Takada would get more credit as a wrestler and a performer. He was an incredible seller too. Unlike the notoriously difficult Maeda. And, unlike Maeda, Takada maintained a respect for pro-wrestling, whereas Maeda felt it beneath him, hence the reason he set up the RINGS promotion.

Fantastic match,I loved the UWF as an alternative to the often cartoonish style of the WWF.Back in the day when I first started watching it as a kid I thought it was a legitimate shoot.

Falls Count Anywhere Match Cactus : Jack vs "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert(TWA,21/03/90)
Another great match in one of the most outstanding grudges in wrestling at the time.The action quickly spills out of the ring and into the crowd.As a viewer on the tv or video this is the worst part of the contest as the TV production values are of a low standard and you can't really see what's going on.However,that gripe aside this is a sterling effort.After a realistic blade job from Gilbert,not too much colour but enough to put over Cactus Jack's offence,the two men reached the ring area and exchanged some stiff shots,Cactus then took his trademark bumps and dished out his high impact moves, including a sunset flip off the apron to the floor and the "Hip Buster"(a diving elbow from the apron to the floor).Gilbert kicked out and then the action finally made it into the ring.Gilbert's manager Veronica,threw her shoe into the ring but Cactus caught it and nailed Gilbert for the win.After the bell Gilbert jumped Cactus and hit him with a big piledriver to leave Cactus prone.This is hard fought effort was just the beginning.

Yeah only reason i was aware of it was due to a Y2J tweet. It was a house show think was either tokyo dome or the Sumo Hall. wonder how many great matches like this we miss a year when they keep forcing us to watch shit on Raw
Probably more than we wish to know about, have heard good things about some house show matches that will never get televised, especially in NXT too.

So true.I spent some time in america in the late 90s and in the 2000s.I remember a house show match between Stone Cold and Shawn Michaels in 1997 and it was 100 times better than any match they had on TV or ppv.

Yeah. I went to the sheffield show which also pretty damn good, had a triple threat between balor, zayn and corbin plus revival and american alpha both were incredible.

I just watched this match again,it really was something special.This type of match featuring workers of this calibre makes me keep the faith that something good can come out of the WWE in the current climate of mediocrity.
