Well I'm a bit shocked at this news. I always regarded that shop as one of Soho's landmarks. I've found an article in my local paper though which says the Vintage Magazine Shop is going to continue online.

I ended up watching the whole episode. At the very beginning there are some shots of Old Compton Street and Frith Street. Most old footage of Soho seems to be at night, but these are daytime shots, so a good chance to get a clear glimpse of Soho as it was in 1969.

Not sure where you are located but if you can get to Eastcastle St/Great Titchfield Street a visit to the Getty Gallery has the Soho exhibition, lots of the images we have on this post and plenty of others, prints are available at £180.00 in Gelatin , to much for me and no catalogue, so I have been 4 times, and as free great value

Talking of Getty images I came across these two (from April 1961):

Club Folies Revue on the left I can't place the location and the image doesn't help much either. I think the pavement is the only clue!

Spoke to the guys, one person remembered the Follies club, but on closer inspection the image was taken in 1961 but the location escapes him and no idea who awarded them Strip Sow of the Year.
One thing he did say was that between the 1960s and the 1970s a lot of clubs changed their names, presumably with operators of the clubs or because they were reopening after being closed/raided.
He did thing however that it may have been in one of the Courts eg. Tilsbury Court or Rupert Court.
I have done searches but can find nothing at all.
Hopefully we can find some other information

I agree with you, I've always felt it was iconic. Another good bit of Soho gone! Still as you say it's good that it survives in some form.

That's very interesting to hear, because I also thought that Club Folies may have been in one of the courts. Although I was thinking St. Anne's Court, as I know there were several clubs along there and I can't recall the names of them all.

Hi,
Had a stinking cold so have not been out and about for a while and things of interest have been happening.
I am semi-retired and was out in Soho with a friend on Friday, we saw an open bed lorry loaded up with, corrugated iron sheets, paving slabs and wall architecture, (The things used to hold pubs signs, lights etc.) Spoke to the driver they were being taken to a salvage yard in Kent.
Of interest is when checking the locations things look the same but are different, my friend was saying that in the 1980s Westminster Council made Soho get its house in order, a lot of the paving slabs were slate and beginning to break, so were replaced by concrete slabs, the wall architecture had in fallen on to the pavement below on a few occasions and so was replaced. The corrugated sheets were used during renovations. As far as I can tell the sheet with Casino De Paris was not among them. In effect this means there is a warehouse/storage area in Soho with relics of the past locked up would be worth a visit. In my conversation I had forgotten to ask where the goods were collected from but the lorry was in Peter Street

On the above found out a bit more, the place on Noel Street had sister establishments one in Carlisle Street and the other in Holborn. Today Carlisle Street has a Gentlemen’s Club called The Vanity do not know if there is a connection, no information on the place in Holborn.
One thing is the girls almost all came from the YWCA on Weymouth Street
I knew these places existed but Soho promised more than it delivered, in fact it was mainly the pub strippers who did the live blue shows, rather than Soho
So any other information would be welcomed.
