New Zealand took 4-12 late in the day, Pakistan still trail by 42 runs. Shakeel has so far faced 336 balls, after taking 42 to get off the mark yesterday. He has sat in against Henry & Southee, scoring mainly off the spinners. RE: Cricket Banter - Snooks - 05-01-2023 03:07 Easy to see now just how impressive it was for England to get a clean sweep in their test series in Pakistan. RE: Cricket Banter - Snooks - 06-01-2023 19:55 Three overs. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes ![]() I mean FFS ![]() Talk about denying a result due to having to go off a set light meter reading from previous days. How about apply some common sense and let the jeopardy play out? Get some extra torches out ![]() RE: Cricket Banter - hornball - 06-01-2023 20:39 (06-01-2023 19:55 )Snooks Wrote: Three overs. Maybe 10 or 15 minutesI agree 100% I get how we arrived at the situation where the issue of playing conditions in terms of light - good/bad was taken out of the players hands, but surely umpires need to show a lot more common sense and sensibly use their discretion (the ICC laws allow for that - I am almost certain of it) in a situation like this! Ironic isn't it that the officials considered the conditions to be unplayable in this instance when it seemed (allowing for cameras being able to brighten the image) that they were a in a different world to when the then umps (Bucknor etc I think) allowed play to continue in Nasser Hussain day in virtual pitch black, due to Pakistan delaying tactics. If players are frustrated now with the regulations, they only have themselves (or their predecessors) to blame for abusing the right they had at the time to determine whether they wished to continue or not - yes Umps had to offer the light in those circumstances - but still, players played the system which led to todays regulations. |
