Some fool round here best start believing before I laydown some virtual Stockton slaps!!! Stockton... I wonder how Nick and Nate would've got on round my old stomping ground!! Never known two more disrespectful fighters ever... They're both decent scrappers, absolute beauts though the pair of them. I'll never be a Diaz fan, sorry Mitch Happy New Year Lads!! RE: UFC - HEX!T - 31-12-2011 21:23 wow after all that wwe type hype... and broc making a big thing out of how his bowel problems were the reason for him not being 100 percent fit in his last fights... he basically put a bullseye on his stomach and told overeem to hit him on it... overeem was kind enough to oblige, and broc looked totaly disgusted that his oponent had a game plan that involved hitting him in the bowel area... you could see even as the first 2 that landed hurt him and from then on overeem knew the fight was his... i was even shouting at him to throw a punch instead of knees as i would have rather he lay broc out than crumple him with body shots. anyway a good but unconvincing win. i didnt see the punch/kick that cut overeem so i still dunno how well the guy recovers from a hard hit. can he beat junior? ... from what i saw last night, no. maybe it would be a lucky punch but i think he will offer more of a challange than broc who's lower bowel was obviously repaired but not healed. RE: UFC - mitchell - 01-01-2012 13:53 I've PM'd the usual suspects of this thread but if I've missed anyone or any of the recent arrivals want to take part feel free to read on.... UFC Openweight Predictions Grand Prix Following the success of the Premier League predictions thread & my recent 4 out of 5 hammering of the UFC 142 card I thought I'd start up a UFC prediction table for the new year starting with UFC 142 Aldo v Mendes on Saturday January 14th. Prediction rules. - All prediction cards will be printed at the begining of the week (Around 17:00) & must be in by no later than 20:00 on the Saturday or whatever day/morning (pmUK), (amUS) the event is taking place. - The fights will consist of the full main card & on occasions 1 or 2 selected fights from the under card i.e. Ross pearson fought on the 141 pre lims but this would make the prediction card. - Scoring, you must select the winner of the fight & method of victory i.e Brock Lesner v Alistair Overeem - Overeem TKO. You will gain 1 point for each prediction, so if Overeem wins by submission, KO or decision this prediction will only gain you 1 point for the Overeem win. - Victory methods KO, the fighter is knocked unconscious & unable to continue or the fighter is knocked down & stunned for a few seconds at which point the striking fighter swarms on his downed opponent with 3 or 4 blows before the ref can jump in to stop the fight. This is considered a KO even if the fighter is still conscious but dazed i.e Jon Fitch was dazed by Jonny Hendricks but unable to defend himself therefore the ref jumped in to stop the fight & the result was a KO win for Hendricks. TKO as of the above but the fighter isn't as badly hurt but can still only defend himself for a short time whilst the striking fighter rains down blows (Punches, elbows, knees to the side) before the ref stops the fight i.e Alistair Overeem's win over Brock Lesner. Submission A fighter is forced to tap out of the fight due to a choke hold or arm/leg lock i.e arm bar, heel hook. Decision Either fighter wins on points. If the result is a draw or a no contest then no score will be given. No score will be given for the prediction of the winning round but feel free to put this in your prediction for possible self gratitude. The scores will be printed on the Sunday afternoon or following night for any midweek Fight Nights after I've had chance to watch the event. Hopefully everyone will take part for a a bit of fun. Laterz, Mitchell Legal notice Any contested decisions will be delt with in a fair manner and resulted at the earliest possible date and all prediction masters decisions are final. Yours sincerely, Mr Justice Mitchell RE: UFC - groundnpound - 01-01-2012 19:30 I'm in. Roll on Rio! Lesnar looked scared of Overeem. All that dancing crap before he got into the cage was just to delay actually facing the guy. Not sure why i thought he'd beat the Dutchman, was taken in by all the bullshit build up that Lesnar was gonna be a monster and all his problems were behind him i guess? He's not a good fighter, that's it in a nutshell. Dos Santos knocks Overeem out for me. Beast. RE: UFC - HEX!T - 02-01-2012 20:44 i think it was a case of lots of training. with not enough time to absorb technique. he had what 5 wins and 3 losses.. that is pretty average for an mma figher. he in no way earned his title shot for the first time thats for sure. especialy when guys like randy couture had to fight 5 or 6 times to get back in the champoins ring... but i guess dana wanted a big name to get sponsorship and interest... not the best move he has made. what i think happened is he started to overthink his fighting. instead of being the charging bull that took down and demolished mir and carwin. his stand up was pretty average but his take towns were excellent, and should have been a bigger part of his gameplan.. honestly im quite happy to see him go, it should put pay to all the wwe type hype that has followed the last few events... RE: UFC - groundnpound - 02-01-2012 23:00 I meant to stick these up before the end of last year... All 2011 Fight Posters in order (Hopefully) Jan - Dec. RE: UFC - TDK2008 - 04-01-2012 18:43 Nice work mate! At UFC on Fox 2, CM Punk will walk with Chael Sonnen as Sonnen makes his entrance before his fight with Mark Munoz. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 05-01-2012 00:42 Read earlier that Velasquez vs Mir is in the works for UFC 146 with Dos Santos vs Overeem lined up for the summer.
