RE: UFC - gazfc - 14-01-2012 15:07 José Aldo v Chad Mendes - Aldo TKO Vitor Belfort v Anthony Johnson - Belfort TKO Rousimar Palhares v Mike Massenzio - Have zero clue who either of these two are so massenzio sub Erick Silva v Carlo Prater - Silva sub Edson Barboza v Terry Etim - Etim sub RE: UFC - Ro1982 - 14-01-2012 15:20 Aldo V Mendes Aldo TKO Belfort V Johnson Johnson TKO Palhares V Massenzio Palhares SUB Silva V Prater Silva TKO Barboza V Etim Barboza Decision RE: UFC - TDK2008 - 15-01-2012 07:51 *UFC 142 SPOILERS FOLLOW* Great main card show with quick finishes. Knockout of the Year is probably already sewn up by Edson Barboza on our very own Terry Etim. Check out one of the greatest KO's in MMA history: RE: UFC - mitchell - 15-01-2012 15:06 (14-01-2012 01:42 )mitchell Wrote: Edson Barboza v Terry Etim - Etim Submission Edson Barboza v Terry Etim Wow, I didn't see that one coming.... I guess I'm not the only one! The first round started well for Etim but as soon as the leg kicks started to sink in he almost stopped fighting altogether. I'm not sure what he expected from Barboza, surely he knew about the kicks, some fighters end up saying he hit harder than I expected, but If I was Terry Etim I'd have gone into the fight thinking I'm gonna get hit with the hardest kicks on the planet & would've formed a game plan around this but he didn't even try & step back or side step. That said it was a fairly routine performance from Edson Barboza, not really getting out of first gear & the finish was a bit out of the blue, the kind of thing fighters like him try on the punch bags & think it'd be sweet if I could do that in a fight but thinking it probably won't happen. I doubt this will knock Terry though as personally I think he's the one fighter ahead of Ross Pearson & John Hathaway who can challenge the top of their divisions. Erick Silva v Carlo Prater A bit of a strange one this but I thought the ref somehow got it right as he made the decision in real time & the replay showed one or two shots to the corner of the head (If a head has got a corner) prompting Mario Yamasaki to call it a DQ. I thought Joe Rogan was wrong to criticise the ref when speaking to Erik Silva in the octagon were all the crowed could hear especially knowing he'd be refing the championship fight. Rogan called Anthony Johnson unprofessional for not cutting weight & then goes out & does this. Vitor Belfort v Anthony Johnson Quality fight this one, 'Rumble' Johnson looked like he wanted to make a statment given it was his middleweight debut & all the issues with the weight but Vitor Belfort is a fighter who's seen it all before & coped well with being on his back. Johnson looked ruffled in the stand up given Vitor's power & speed & it looked like it was gonna be a quick start to the 2nd round untill he got the two hooks in & decided to go for his neck & get the sub win. This was his first submission win in 11 years & 15 years in the UFC albeit he's only fought 10 times in the UFC in those 15 years. José Aldo v Chad Mendes The first 4:59 of this fight was the typical striker v wrestler stalemate with only a few kicks of note being thrown & a few takedowns being attempted. José Aldo's 94% takedown defence has just gone up a notch or two & the finish was that of an instinctive KO fighter. I know he's down the pecking order but I'd like to see Dennis Siver fight José Aldo. I thought this was a good main card show & the crowd for the last two fights was crazy, with the football & Ricky Hatton fans we get over here I thought this is the kind of atmosphere there'd be at every UK event this is what annoys me with some of the lesser know fighters they bring over here as I don't think the Brazil atmosphere is far away in the UK arenas if the fighters were a bit more wellknow or popular. RE: UFC - mitchell - 15-01-2012 15:47 UFC 142 official results. Edson Barboza v Terry Etim - Barboza KO Erick Silva v Carlo Prater - Prater by DQ Rousimar Palhares v Mike Massenzio - Palhares submisson Vitor Belfort v Anthony Johnson - Belfort submission José Aldo v Chad Mendes - Aldo KO UFC Openweight Predictions Grand Prix table A massive Congratulations goes to 199lives for predicting all 5 results, I don't think this has been done before. 199lives Mitchell Ro1982 groundnpound TDK2008 Master Yoda Gaz "AV1" Aston gazfc All results are the official UFC results. sometimes I see a KO as a TKO given the fighter isn't unconscious but the result is given as a KO. The Erick Silva v Carlo Prater fight goes down as a win for Carlo Praters. Scoring, you must select the winner of the fight & method of victory i.e Brock Lesner v Alistair Overeem - Overeem TKO. You will gain 1 point for each prediction, so if Overeem wins by submission, KO or decision this prediction will only gain you 1 point for the Overeem win. Victory methods KO, the fighter is knocked unconscious & unable to continue or the fighter is knocked down & stunned for a few seconds at which point the striking fighter swarms on his downed opponent with 3 or 4 blows before the ref can jump in to stop the fight. This is considered a KO even if the fighter is still conscious but dazed i.e Jon Fitch was dazed by Jonny Hendricks but unable to defend himself therefore the ref jumped in to stop the fight & the result was a KO win for Hendricks. TKO as of the above but the fighter isn't as badly hurt but can still only defend himself for a short time whilst the striking fighter rains down blows (Punches, elbows, knees to the side) before the ref stops the fight i.e Alistair Overeem's win over Brock Lesner. Submission A fighter is forced to tap out of the fight due to a choke hold or arm/leg lock i.e arm bar, heel hook. Decision Either fighter wins on points. If the result is a draw or a no contest then no score will be given. No score will be given for the prediction of the winning round but feel free to put this in your prediction for possible self gratitude. RE: UFC - mitchell - 15-01-2012 20:55 The word on the street is that Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson has been cut from the UFC after failing to initially make the 185lb weight cut for his fight with Vitor Belfort missing it by 11lbs, there's no official word as yet just an interview with Dana White on Fuel TV after the fight last night in which he said. “This latest weight cutting snafu was probably the straw that broke the camel’s back. We are probably going to cut Anthony Johnson,” UFC on FX: Guillard v Miller Is on ESPN 2am Friday/Saturday. I wonder what would of happened if Aldo didn't grab the fence when Evans first tried to slam him to the ground and if Johnston weighed 211lbs at fight time how much did he weigh at fight time against hardy RE: UFC - groundnpound - 16-01-2012 02:30 Was gutted for Etim last night... Boss kick from Barboza though well and truly ironed him out. The Brazilian's a dangerous customer. Crazy miscalculation from Johnson in the weight department... Could cost him his UFC career! Aldo's the man. Unbeatable in that division for me. The Brazilian dominance continues!! Good turn out for the predictions lads, nice one.
