The old boy network will be busy the next few weeks, and no doubt a patsy will be found to deflect any blame from those at the top. Well that's how public inquiry,s work, dont you know. Call me synical, but seen it happen to many timesSadSad

An entire tower block estate in Camden (800 households) has been evacuated because residents safety can't be guaranteed. The cladding is the same type as Grenfell Tower & was put on by the same contractor who did Grenfell Tower

Hmmmmm https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jun/22/grenfell-tower-camden-council-to-remove-cladding-from-five-tower-blocks

So cladding was put up in 2006 Under labour and the cost was 150 million for 5 towers using a PFI scheme. Grenfell tower was refurbed in 2013 for 8.9 million by tory council. so bascially was 30mil a tower under PFI thought surely if you have 5 towers you have more materials so should be able to get greater discount for material so lower costs so why where they over 3 times dearer in 2006 just dont make sense

makes you think how much they were ripping off the labour goverment and councils.

Tell you PFI was one of Tony Blairs biggest scandals and its proberly going to come back and bite us in the arse

Councils where faulty cladding has been found the majority of which have are or have been labour council still blaming the tories. it was a full 100% failure rate 60 samples tested all 60 failed

yet corbyn and especially McDonnell don't acknowledge that labour are also responsible for some of the errors and widespread usage of this type of cladding.

it is also reported that the unsusual design of Grenfell allowed the fire to spread quicker if you watch the footage you can see that the fire move diagonally up the tower.

A lot of anger has been stirred up of the past couple of months for various reasons and it is corbyn and McDonnell want to use that for their own political means rather than trying to help by asking for people for to calm down and let the various services to their investigations to find out why this particular cladding was used, why was the tower designed the way it was etc.

McDonnell is stupid in saying that those that died were murdered. murder is premediated act, no-one from the brick layers to the inspector to the almo board planned on killing 70+ people. manslaughter charges against the construction company if they had knowledge that the insulation for the cladding was flammable and same goes for the manufacturers of that insulation if they had known it was flammable.

The political nonsense is an unwanted diversion. Once the inquiry reports back I suspect fingers will be pointed at Councils/Housing Associations for failing to adequately oversee their contractors. I know at least one area in the list HannahsPet posted where this is definitely the case.

As for PFI, I ran the small works on a large Hospital site for a major Contractor between 1999 & 2005. We did everything from an extra socket to complete Ward Refurbs and made good money on it. In 2005 the Hospital was massively expanded under a PFI scheme and the costs for the work we used to do went through the roof. For example, a straightforward extra socket was £50 from us but almost 3 times the price under the PFI scheme. They were charging £70 to put up a shelf too Bounce

And now we get that it depends on how the building regulations are interpreted. I would have thought if something is combustible, the last thing you would do with it is to cover a high rise dwelling with it. Public inquiry will take years, and those who took a bung to look the other way while companys comprimised safety for profit, will slip through the net.
