As much as I dislike champagne-socialist Derek Hatton with his chequered history & brand of politics but I have to say he looks good for a man who's 71 years old. Whatever elixir he's been drinking from (probably virgin blood like any good vampire) I reckon I need a sip of it.

Funnily enough I though that when I saw him as well, whatever it is though thankfully I myself will not require it as my family tends to age well, my father is 62 with at least 90% jet black hair and not much in the way of wrinkles, much like his two brothers who range from 58 to 66. On top of that he got a physical a few years ago and the Doctor said his liver is fine despite the fact that he is a hardened (social I stress) drinker to the point where he doesn't get hangovers regardless how slaughtered he has been the night before and this man can knock back a Whisky

And now an eighth Labour MP has gone and joined the Independant Party.

^With the 8 Labour MP's & still counting the money on who the Tory MP defectors to join the independent scene will be Anna Soubry,Heidi Allen,Dr Philip Green & Sarah Woolaston are the front runners. The common thread with the ex-Labour MP's & the Tory MP's rumoured to be quitting are all staunch anti-Brexit MP's all canvassing for a 'Peoples Vote'.Being so insistent on the 'Peoples Vote' if they have an ounce of conviction about them then they would put their money where their mouth is & back a 'Constituent Peoples Vote' & call by-elections every one of them.It cannot be right for MP's standing on a party manifesto on a General Election but then quit the party & set up on their own (or other rebels) keeping their MP's salary without backing of their constituencies.Truth is I don't think any of these MP's would get re-elected on an independent ticket as people tend to vote on party lines not on an MP's personality & these MP's just wouldn't want to lose their £77k a year plus expenses MP meal tickets.

I wholeheartedly agree mate
I think the very fact they have resigned and now there are
CONservative rumoured to be resigning and joining they should at least be deselected, and by elections called then they will see how much the public trust them then.

i get a feeling that they all would get in if an by by election was called. cant see luciana berger being unseated as well as soubery

That only depends if any moves are made to deselect them first and if the parties are able to field candidates strong enough and likeable enough to defeat them.

^ You can’t deselect someone if they are not in your party! The law does not require them to resign & the rules on recall of MP’s do not allow recall in these circumstances although strangely enough a Labour spokesperson has said in the last 24 hours that they want the rules changed.

How many times have there been people leaving for reasons and then run as an independent and won byelections
