Scotland had Ireland up first, the number one ranked team in the world while England had the minnows in first two games and the big game against France last which they don't have to now play and get extra rest before Q/FinalTo be fair, this Typhoon is a once in 10 plus years event, and nobody saw it coming - least of all those who are now coming forward with their 'wise ass' comments about how lacking in preparation the IRB were for such an eventuality! You would think that no rugby matches have ever been called off in the rest of the world due to sudden weather changes, and that had the event been staged in one of those countries, not only could the know - it - all's have almost physically pushed any threatening weather out of the way, but could/would have secured all infrastructure from any impact of any kind!! Japan have been brilliant this whole tournament! It is the IRB and their lack of flexibility that have caused the issue (yes Nations signing up to participation agreements without reading the 'small print' also) Telling isn't it btw the medias reaction to E Jones crass comments about Scotland's predicament?? Had England not had an easy ride in their group, and needed a victory against France (now postponed), and Townsend et al had uttered the words Jones did about England, the Media (including old auntie) would have been up in arms! Congrats Ireland BTW, but Samoa - once again - abject!! Could not tell which team had a man down to a red card! RE: Rugby world cup Japan 2019 Discussion Thread - HannahsPet - 12-10-2019 15:29 Only scotland moaning always have to be conspiracy theory s why you get screwed thing is no one expected Japan to beat Ireland so would have been a meaningless fixture i hope the game does go on and Scotland lose bad it is totally disrespecful to Japan and there players because they are unbeaten and they managed to do something you couldnt and Beat ireland ![]() ![]() ![]() Eddie Jones has a right to say what he said seeing he is of Japanese descent and also managed them last cup where they beat the springboks and put the system in place that is reaping rewards now If anyone is to blame then its your team for that first game against ireland you were fucking dreadful RE: Rugby world cup Japan 2019 Discussion Thread - Snooks - 12-10-2019 16:03 If the game does go ahead there are varying permutations as to who goes through given the result of the game and bonus point allocations. My understanding is that Scotland basically need to win and be level or better on bonus points gained. If the two nations finish level on points by virtue of a Scotland victory the Scots will progress by virtue of head to head record against Japan. RE: Rugby world cup Japan 2019 Discussion Thread - mikedafc - 12-10-2019 21:24 The small print says although matches cannot be postponed, it doesn't say that they cannot be moved to another venue to assure fixture is fulfilled. That is what Scotland will be citing if match looks like it won't be played. Regards of us not performing against Ireland we should be able to play against Japan and succeed or fail on our merits (12-10-2019 15:10 )hornball Wrote:(11-10-2019 21:51 )mikedafc Wrote: Have to laugh at Eddie Jones saying Scotland would only have themselves to blame if the Typhoon eliminates them as they should have got points early. RE: Rugby world cup Japan 2019 Discussion Thread - lovebabes56 - 12-10-2019 22:21 I wonder if World Rugby didn't check their own small print before cancelling? I hope they have offered full refunds to fans of thr cancelled games though. RE: Rugby world cup Japan 2019 Discussion Thread - Snooks - 13-10-2019 01:42 Current expectation although not officially confirmed is that the Japan v Scotland match will go ahead. CONFIRMED.
