^ Well, I suppose that if you're trying to fuck things up Rolleyes (purely for reasons of Political Correctness), you may as well make a proper job of it! Bounce Bounce Bounce

Casting a bigger star than the lead in a secondary role would upset the cosmic balance even more. It does suggest BBC higher-ups have cold feet about Jodie Whittaker.

RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 09-09-2017 14:20

They've finally get around to admitting they had to can the unevenly toned Class: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-09-07/doctor-who-spin-off-class-cancelled/ Rolleyes

Meanwhile, the mothership plows on with the Christmas special now having concluded it's post-production presumably. As might be expected Moffat thinks, on the basis of one scene, that Whittaker's going to be brilliant Rolleyes (not saying she wont be but this seems just a tad premature): http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-09-04/steven-moffat-drops-hints-about-jodie-whittakers-first-doctor-who-scenes-shes-given-us-the-doctor-weve-always-known/ (Filming was done by July.)

Plus, with reference to a recent conversation on here, RTD reckons he never even thought of having a female doc: http://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/former-doctor-showrunner-female-doctor/

Huh. Some Doctor Who fan I turn out to be. This is the first I've ever heard of Class! Looks like I didn't miss a great deal.

I thought it was ok, on the whole. Too many 'lead' characters didn't help it though. They had a great character in Quill but she was reduced to a bit part role alot of the time. If they'd built the show around her it could have been much better.
Scheduling was poor too. The premier on BBC3 was never going to get a big audience, then they threw it away 2 episodes at a time on late night BBC1.
If they used the same 9pm BBC2 slot as Torchwood for the first showing I think it would've got a much bigger audience.

RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 11-09-2017 11:18

Don't you think it just didn't know what it wanted to be and fell between two stools? The gore and overt violence (on occassion) was decidedly adult Torchwood territory but the narratives and teenage 'angst' was strictly 6pm Buffy level. Most 16-18 year olds, if that was the target audience given its post-watershed content, don't want to watch something set in a school - they just spent years trying to get out of there! Tongue

Was thinking
if it is possible to have a female Doctor Who is it possible to have a female Davros?
