This is what happens when the designers first thought is of cosplayers. Stop pandering to every trend ffs. RE: Dr Who - M-L-L - 09-11-2017 22:11 Surely they can use this as an opportunity to vary the character's clothes more from story to story ? Isn't it more plausible that a female Doctor would be completely changing her outfit every week ? This is something that to me has harked back to the studio-bound days and a strange view of the world that characters have to have an unchanging "costume" that's the same every week otherwise the dullard viewers won't be able to recognise them ? The new series has persisted this, I've never been sure why. Presumably budget !!!! RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 10-11-2017 00:11 ^ and marketing. A designer would talk of recognisable silhouettes and all that bollocks (you can hear enough from them at conventions and in interviews). But I'd also say that there has been more variation within that of late. Capaldi had several different but similar kinds of outfit for instance (like they could never quite settle on what they preferred). I suspect this outfit will be quietly tweaked after the reaction it has gotten online. Vaguely comedic is, I suspect, not the way they hoped it would go down. Someone boobed. It has happened before of course. Look how quick Troughton lost the stove pipe hat for instance. |
