RE: UFC - gazfc - 29-01-2012 11:55

How the fuck did one judge get a 30-27 in the bisping fight? Clearly and 2-1 win for mike, the rest of the fights wor shit (well I say the rest, my sky+ decided to save me the pain of watching the last two round of Davis fight)

Michael Johnson v Shane Roller
I've not seen this fight so don't know what happened.
Evan Dunham v Nik Lentz
I've not seen this fight either but it's supposed to be a quality fight. I've tried to find it but all the links are dead.
Demian Maia v Chris Weidman
Demian Maia looked like he did when he first fought in the UFC, other than BBJ he didn't know what to do & for someone who's recently been working on his hands he looked like he didn't know how to clinch a fist never mind throw a punch.
Michael Bisping v Chael Sonnen
How the fuck one judge had this at 30-27 I'll never know & as for the unanimous decision thats bollocks it was 2-1 Michael Bisping at best. If he fights like this in the rematch then Chael Sonnen will get KO'd in 2 rounds by Anderson Silva. I can see Bisping's next fight being against Mark Muñoz for a number one contender shot depending on the injury of Muñoz.
I still think Bisping's needs to take a chance or two in fights like this & throw more knees when he's got his opponent against the cage.
Rashad Evans v Phil Davis
Phil Davis looked decent in the opening minutes but after that he looked well out of his depth at this level & Rashad Evans started to find it easy to close the distance & started to dominate & in the end looked very comfortable.
I've always said I like how Rashad always seems to have a strategy for every aspect of his fights he's the sort of fighter who if he was a footballer he'd also make a good manager, the title fight with Jon Jones is gonna be interesting although it's gonna be a different task of closing the distance with the champion.

Bonus awardsThe following fighters were awarded $65,000 bounses.
Fight of the Night: Evan Dunham v Nik Lentz
Knockout of the Night: Lavar Johnson
Submission of the Night: Charles Oliveira

If anyone comes across these fights don't be scared to post them.
Joey Beltran v Lavar Johnson
Charles Oliveira v Eric Wisely Oliveira submission, calf slicer apparently Huh
Evan Dunham v Nik Lentz

It was another piss poor production on ESPN's part it's about time they stopped taking the piss & showed the full live show, how many add breaks do they wanna fit into a 2 hour show, wankers!!!

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 29-01-2012 16:37

Bisping was robbed last night. He won the first two rounds!! He looked brilliant, for me. Thouhgt the performance he produced in 1and2 was right up there. Couldn't believe the decision. Really disappointing.

Davis was too slow and predictable... He looked liked one of those robots from the start of the show! Rashad wasn't up to much either. Really poor fight, 5 rounds aswell...

Jones will wipe the floor with Rashad.

I usually stick to the positives with the UFC, but the Bisping decision left a bad taste in the mouth.

Rotten show. Absoloute borefest!

RE: UFC - Carl13 - 29-01-2012 17:46

Saw the show this morning and was very disappointed.

Nearly hit the FF button with the main event - Guess the only positive for the UFC is that they get the championship match-ups they would have wanted although neither challenger go in on a major roll after less than impressive victories. Doubt the card would have increased interest among the casual viewer / Made those people want to buy a PPV with these fighters in a title contest.

RE: UFC - gazfc - 29-01-2012 17:50

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks bisping was robbed, thought my bias might have been clouding my judgement. Some sort of conspiracy I reckon

RE: UFC - mitchell - 29-01-2012 18:26

Joey Beltran got sparked by what looked like his twin brother.

Michael Bisping sees silver lining in UFC on FOX 2 loss, promises future title

CHICAGO – Admittedly, moral victories still bloody suck.

But for UFC on FOX 2 co-headliner Michael Bisping, who suffered a close unanimous-decision loss to No. 1 contender Chael Sonnen on Saturday at Chicago's United Center, the Brit sees the silver lining.

Despite the defeat, Bisping has plenty of reasons to be pleased with his performance.

Against Sonnen (27-11-1 MMA, 6-4 UFC), a truly world-class wrestler and one of the best to ply the trade in MMA, Bisping (22-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) showcased some vastly improved skills. His takedown defense was sharp, his scrambles were effective, and as usual, his striking was on point.

Ultimately, though, Bisping suffered a decision loss via 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 scores. Yet even UFC president Dana White publicly admonished the 30-27 score.

"I can't lie; I thought I won rounds one and two," Bisping said. "I think in this modern day of social networking and stuff, you just have to look at the Internet, and I think the general consensus was I won the fight."

Even opponent Sonnen admitted the first two rounds could have gone either way. While never one to back down from self-promoting, Sonnen had nothing but a glowing review for Bisping, who badly rocked the former title challenger in the first round. And like White, Bisping didn't hold back his contempt for judge Clay Goodman, who issued the shutout score for Sonnen.

"There's no way that fight was 30-27, and the judge who scored that needs to reconsider his job options," Bisping flatly said.

Still, it was hard for "The Ultimate Fighter 3" winner and longtime contender to ignore the positives he took from the fight. Bisping, who pulled out of a scheduled bout with Demian Maia and instead took the Sonnen fight on 10 days' notice as an injury replacement for Mark Munoz, believes this latest victory should quiet his many critics.

"If you look at my career, I've fought a who's who of MMA," he said. "If you look at the conspiracy, 'Oh, they're giving him hand-picked opponents.' Well, why is an English guy fighting wrestler after wrestler after wrestler? I fought Rashad Evans, Matt Hamill, Chael Sonnen, Denis Kang and Dan Henderson, to name a few. It's such a crock."

Most predicted an easy night for Sonnen, largely because of his wrestling edge. But Sonnen, who earned a guaranteed title shot and rematch with middleweight champ Anderson Silva with the close win, admits he had his hands full.

"I have no excuse for tonight," Sonnen said. "I fought as hard as I could fight. I fought a really good fighter that we didn't know was a really good fighter."

Sonnen further pushed the compliments by saying he'd favor Bisping in a match with Silva. Sure, it may just be bluster, and Silva obviously would be a significant favorite over Bisping, but the Brit believes his time will come soon enough.

Like Sonnen, he sees a title in his future, so don't expect a single loss to derail his plans.

"Yeah, I'm going to nowhere," Bisping said. "I've been doing this for a long, long time, and I intend to do it a lot longer. It was a close fight, a good fight. I could have won that; I could have stopped it.

"But this isn't the last you'll see me, and I will be fighting for a title, and I will bloody win it."

Chael Sonnen Admitted Defeat to Michael Bisping

UFC president Dana White and Michael Bisping both believed Chael Sonnen (Pictured) should have lost on Saturday night inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Even Sonnen admitted he wouldn’t have been surprised if the judges’ verdict went in favor of the Brit.

“The only round I knew I had was the third,” Sonnen shared at the post-fight press conference. “I thought I might have had one of the first two, but I didn’t know I had it.

“That was my goal, was to win a controversial split decision. So I was a little disappointed that it was unanimous.”

Prior to hearing UFC announcer Bruce Buffer recite the official scores, Bisping suggested to Sonnen that he thought he was victorious, and Uncle Chael didn’t disagree.

“Yeah, I did say that to him,” Sonnen admitted of their private conversation. “I said, ‘Hey, what do you think?’ And he said, ‘I don’t know, I think I might have gotten the first two.’ I said, ‘Yeah, you might be right.’

“That doesn’t mean I disagree with the judges. They were close rounds. Even a 30-27 [score], I would agree he should have gotten a round in there somewhere. You can have a 30-27 fight that is still a very close 30-27. If it would have gone the other way, I don’t know if I’d be complaining.”

White and Bisping believed “The Count” took the opening two stanzas. However, when the cards were all tallied, Sonnen left The Windy City a highly-controversial (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) unanimous decision victory.

With the win, Sonnen advances to rematch middleweight king Anderson Silva for his crown later this summer. After dominating “The Spider” for nearly five complete rounds at UFC 117, Chael P. Sonnen was caught in a Hail Mary submission with just a few ticks remaining on the clock.
