RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Charlemagne - 10-10-2024 09:44 Rafael Nadal has announced his retirement from tennis His last match will be in the final of the Davis Cup. RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Doddle - 10-10-2024 12:41 Another of the ATGs gone Well done, though. RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - lovebabes56 - 10-10-2024 13:14 His record of 14 French Open Wins 'will probably never be broken' acccording to former British No.1 Greg Rusedski. In paing tribute to Rafa I think his greatest asset along with how graceful he was around the court is he coupled it with a humility the kept his feet on the ground. I can oly imagine how many more titles & Slams he could have won had he not had the injuries. I do hope the French Open organisers will mark his acheivemernts in some way and I think it is s nice touch that he is retiring after the Davis Cup Final and in some ways too it is a shame he couldn't retire at the Roland Garros. Enjoy your deserved retirement Rafa, your tenacity, your exciting style of play, and your sportsmanship will be very much missed . It now sees Djokovic as the last player still active from that era and we should look back on this Tennis' greatest era in the modern game. |
