Condit Stoppage, Sub,KO,TKO??? Nelson Submission I meant like Condit will win by Doctor Stoppage cus Diaz will be cut too badly to continue. No way will Diaz quit & wow can he take some hard shots, but I expect he'll be so battered and bloody that the doctor will stop the fight. Nelson to win either via Ref Stoppage "TKO" due to securing a crucifix and his oponant unable to inteligently defend himself, or the classic Nelson overhand right knockout. He always wins via one or the other --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a side note: Here is my MMA training gear (apart from my Under Armour base layers, currently in the wash) I soooooo need a Jaco training kit bag for this lot. Wish I could afford all the dearest brand items, but I get by fine with these, so far. I put the prices on as a guide for any of you who may be thinking about putting your own kit together. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 04-02-2012 00:20 I've got 3 under armour long sleeve base layer shirts mate ( Ridiculed on here for it) lol Never go a run without one on at this time of year. The only MMA gear i own is the UFC MMA Training gloves. They make it easier to use the ipod than wearing the boxing gloves! Love them, they're boss. RE: UFC - mitchell - 04-02-2012 14:21 UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit Tonight 3am ESPN Ed Herman v Clifford Starks Clifford Starks makes his second appearance after stepping into the big league he's somewhat of a latecomer at 30 & hasn't had many fights but is unbeaten in the 8 he's had so far. Ed Herman is 19-7 in his career but only 6-5 in the UFC comming off a TUF final loss in 2006 & is somewhat of a midrange fighter who doesn't look like he's gonna get any higher but is still a decent fighter all the same & his experience should see earn a decision over Starks. Renan Barão v Scott Jorgensen After losing his first fight by split decision in 2005 25 year old Bazilian Renan Barão has moved to 27-1 (2-0 UFC) 5 of his last 7 wins are by submission to take his sub total to 13 & is looking to make a name for himself in the Bantamweight division. Scott Jorgensen 13-4 (2-0 UFC) lost a unanimous decision to Dominick Cruz for the WEC/UFC Bantamweight title, his only loss in his last 7 & will be looking to get another crack at Cruz should he win here but faces a tough task against BJJ black belt Barão. Whilst Barão only loss is by decision Jorgensen has 3 decision losses & only 1 submission loss his wins are 4 subs & 7 decisions so this looks a very intriguing fight. A finish looks on the cards given Barão's hight & reach advantage but I wouldn't rule out a Barão decision. Josh Koscheck v Mike Pierce Mike Pierce 13-4, (5-2 UFC) has lost a decision in all his fights against top level opponents Mark Muñoz, Jon Fitch & Johny Hendricks with 8 of his last 10 going the distance & will be looking to take a step out of Chris Weidman's book by taking advantage of this opportunity but faces a very big task of overcoming Josh Koscheck. Josh Koscheck himself faces a challenge in Pierce who has never been stopped but Koschek has only gone the distance in 2 of his last 7 one of which was a loss to GSP. Koscheck will nodoubt be looking to get back in the title picture with a win here & face the winner of the main event depending on the time scale of the GSP injury which could see him face the loser for the number one contender slot. Josch Koscheck should have too much experienced at this level for Pierce to earn a decision but with Pierce winning 6 KO's we may see some big shots being thrown in which I'd still give the upper hand to Koscheck. Roy Nelson v Fabricio Werdum Interesting fight this given both fighters hold very similar records. Nelson 16-6 KO 9-1 Sub 5-0 Dec 2-5, Werdum 14-5 KO 4-1 Sub 8-0 Dec 2-4. Nelson has the KO advantage & Werdum the Submission. Both fighters have an in & out record over the last few years but both are fighting at the top end of the sport. Werdum should have an advantage in the takedowns given he's taller & has a bigger reach so should be looking to take the fight to the ground but will face a though task in handing Nelson his first sub loss eventhough they're the same weight Roy Nelson isn't an easy man to move albeit Werdum is a 2nd degree BBJ black belt so may use Nelson's weight against him to try & take his back. Just like the main event this should be a close fight in which I'd give the advantage to Fabricio Werdum for a decision win. Nick Diaz v Carlos Condit I know it's been said many a time but this is one of those fights that could be one of the best you'll see with the records being very similar. Diaz 26-7 KO 13-2 Sub 8-0 Dec 5-5 Condit 27-5 KO 13-0 Sub 13-3 Dec 1-2. Nick Diaz is on an 11 fight win streak in which he won the Strikeforce Welterweight title & defended it 3 times before coming back to the UFC & retiring BJ Penn his only loss in his last 17 was by doctor stoppage. Carlos Condit himself is on a 4 fight win streak with a split decision loss to Martin Kampmann stopping him being unbeaten in 13, his last 3 have resulted in both KO & fight of the night awards & he will no doubt be picking up another fight of the night here. This is too close to call with Diaz last being stopped by a fighter way back in 2002 via TKO (Doctor stoppage in 2006) with Condit losing via submission in 2006. Pretty much anything could happen here with Condit winning by TKO/KO in his last 3 but Diaz is a very smart striker albeit not a big puncher with only 1 of his 13 finishes being a KO but the 12 TKO's just shows how effective his none stop pepper punches are & most don't seem to be able to figure them out but Condit is a very big puncher & will relish the thought of coming up against a striker just like he did against Dan Hardy. A though one to call but untill I see a fighter get past the pace & constant punches in buches of Nick Diaz I just don't see him losing, but I also don't see him finishing Carlos Condit, the striking of Diaz & his BBJ could earn him a decision. What a show this could be!!! Nick Diaz v Carlos Condit - Diaz Submission Roy Nelson v Fabricio Werdum - Werdum Decision Josh Koscheck v Mike Pierce - Koscheck TKO Renan Barão v Scott Jorgensen - Barão Submission Ed Herman v Clifford Starks - Herman Submission RE: UFC - Gaz "AV1" Aston - 05-02-2012 00:20 not sure if you guys are aware of Facebook fights... http://www.facebook.com/UFC?sk=app_247211121995467 They show the prelims live on their FB page! RE: UFC - mitchell - 05-02-2012 17:35 Ed Herman v Clifford Starks This was a better fight than I expected as both fighters went straight out to win the fight. It looked early on as if Herman was a little surprised by the striking of Starks who was connecting with the right on numerous occasions. It looked like it could go either way untill Herman scored a quality takedown to earn a good sub win to earn his third finish in his last 3 fights Renan Barão v Scott Jorgensen Not the prediction I went for but in my preview I did say I wouldn't rule out a Renan Barão decision I didn't think this was a great fight & like the judges thought Barão controled every round which given his hight & reach advantage it wasn't a surprise that Jorgensen found it difficult to get close to Barão who didn't throw many big power shots prefering to just keep Jorgensen at bay & earn the decision. Given Renan Barão is now ranked 3rd I can see him fighting the winner Dominick Cruz v Urijah Faber who fight later in the year at TUF final or he may fight someone like Brian Bowles or Miguel Torres to fill in the time. Josh Koscheck v Mike Pierce Again not the prediction I went for but did preview a Josh Koscheck desicion. This wasn't a good fight to watch & I doubt Joe Silva will be looking at Koscheck for a title shot in his next fight it may take him two impressive wins for that to happen. Roy Nelson v Fabricio Werdum Roy Nelson is a serious human punch bag, Cabbage Correira isn't the only fighter who's head is full of "concrete and stuff".. Fabricio Werdum was never in danger of losing this fight especially after getting a takedown within the first 2 minutes & from then on he just went through the motion of controling the fight. Given Werdum's record of 2 losses in his last 7 fights to Junior dos Santos & a decison for Alistair Overeem, I can see him having one more fight & if he wins then challenging for the title against the winner of the rumored fight between dos Santos & Overeem. Given Werdum's record of 2 losses in his last 7 fights to Nick Diaz v Carlos Condit I didn't think this a great fight either but I can see where the judges are coming from given the better scoring shots were from Carlos Condit but I can also understand Nick Diaz given he was the one who was pushing the pace consistantly going forward but he wasn't throwing many shots without a return from Condit & given the decision of Chael Sonnen over Michael Bisping I can see where Diaz is coming from but just like Amir Khan who pushed the pace in his fight with Lamount Peterson the better scoring shots came from the eventual winner. Carlos Condit fought the perfect game plan in this fight knowing Diaz has never been sumitted or KO'd in 10 years & lost only once in 15 so obviously looked at getting the decision whilst knowing Diaz would just stick to his normal way of fighting he decided to get his shots off whilst slipping the pressure & conecting on the way out which he worked with succsess at every opportunity with perfection. Nick Diaz only has himself to blame for this decision as he never had a plan B but like I said in my preview "Untill I see a fighter get past the pace & constant punches in buches of Nick Diaz I just don't see him losing", maybe Diaz himself will now look at the way he fights & look to vary up his fight game as I don't see him going through with his retirement especially given he's only 28. He's never fought Josh Koscheck & lost a decision to Diego Sanchez in 2005, Sanchez fights Jake Ellenburger later this month, I don't see Sanchez getting a title eliminator fight given his win streak is only 2 but Ellenburger is on a 5 fight win streak & his only loss in 10 is a split decision to Carlos Condit so if Ellenburger beats Sanchez to set up a fight with Diaz & Condit beats GSP to be the outright UFC Welterweifgt champion then it could be Carlos Condit v Nick Diaz/Jack Ellenburger in January 2012???
