I was surprised given how early in the season the Bet Fred Cup matches are, to find out that teams couldn't use trialists in these matches as for many clubs who were unlikely to progress from their groups these games are effectively an extension of their pre season.
It has left some managers very light on players with some not being able to name a full bench of subs.
Really something that needs to be addressed

I presume the Lowland League did return last night with Gala Fairydean getting a 4-4 draw. No wonder they had to start that Cup thing a fortnight ago.

Dunfermline Athletic drew with Hearts 2-2(3-1 on pens) to qualify for last 16 of League Cup and all the radio are talking about is the managerial situation at Hearts
