They could do with adding a few more sound effects than just clapping. Shaun Murphy just potted the white and there was no gasps or "oooo" from the crowd.

^I think a nice Dan Maskell approved 'ooh i say' would have probably added a bit more atmosphere.

Ronnie O' Sullivan said after his win he is much more relaxed in the Crucible with NO fans watching.....hope he gets a good workout in round 2!!

Where's Hazel?
There's a nice little thing standing in for her but it's not the same.

Hazel Irvine is not at the Crucible this year due to a family illness.

Mr Punch saying "That's the way to do it!" perhaps.

Crowds react after almost anything, so the occasional raucous outburst seems a bit disingenuous.

Match of the tournament so far has just concluded with Anthony McGill beating 13th seed Jack Lisowski in a nerve shredding deciding frame. From 5-4 overnight the Scot maintained his one frame advantage at the mid session interval to lead 7-6.
He then pulled clear to leave Lisowski on the brink of defeat at 6-9 down.
Lisowski then rattled off three straight frames in clinical fashion to force a final frame.
Both men had chances in frame 19.
McGill left his opponent in what seemed an innocuous snooker but astonishingly gained 16 penalty points out of it Surprised.
The frame twisted this way and that before boiling down to a battle on the final three colours. Both men played some excellent snookers on each other before McGill was ultimately confronted with a gun barrel straight but very tough blue from distance.
It rattled and rattled but went in to hold for pink which he duly potted to seal victory.

A truly superb encounter.
Worth watching highlights tonight if not seen already.

Full score update from day four to follow later.

Glad Lisowski did run it that close, he seemed to blow hot & cold.

Think it was the 14th frame which ended bizarrely. Yan just had to pot the green to win frame and match - but he knocked in the black as well. Then Slessor put him in a basic snooker - which Yan missed on the way out and on the rebound. Then Yan's next try saw a cannon which sent the white ball in the pocket. I can rarely recall 3 such unlucky shots in a row. Slessor did well to make the score closer, but Yan was too far in front.
