Grrrr not what you need when chasing promotion

4. City’s scheduled fixtures at home to Brighton & Hove Albion and away at Cardiff City in February both now need rearranging as those sides have each taken the cup competitions seriously and find themselves both involved in money-spinning, headline-making games against Liverpool on the days they were supposed to play the Tigers. It’s an unfortunate coincidence that these two City games would have been in successive weeks, but it does mean that unless one can be allocated a February midweek slot, we could have a period of 17 days without a match – from Birmingham City away on February 14th to Blackpool away on March 2nd. That’s a long time to be not playing football, and while it may have benefits for the health of the team, it will do nothing for any momentum they may have achieved. It also, incidentally, creates an extraordinary 24-day gap between games at the KC – from Bristol City on February 11th to Leeds United on March 6th.

The axe has fallen on Simon Grayson.Got mixed feelings,a good manager who in the end didn't get the backing or the big money required to buy your way into the Premiership.Whilst Bates has brought finacial stability to the club, the fans deserve to be supporting a club competing at the highest level.Whoever comes in will have a tough job turning it around this season.

RE: Football League: Discussion - Money_Shot - 01-02-2012 19:32

He done a decent enough job with one arm tied behind his back. As mentioned didn't have the financial clout needed. I think Leeds need to be realistic and a season or two flirting with the play-offs whilst consolidating finances is nothing to be ashamed of.

I don't buy in to this talk about them being a big side who deserve to be in the top flight. Look at all the English leagues and there is always a half decent side from yesteryear kicking about. Yes they have been mismanaged and ultimately it is only ever the fans who lose out but getting to the Premier Greed isn't the be all and end all. Enjoy the moment, instead of the "dream"

Getting back on topic, on the flipside to Grayson getting the bullet, the players he did bring in haven't done the job, so it's either sack him or sack the players, and we all know who wins that one!!

Will be interesting to see who Bates gets in as replacement.

Prime Minister David Cameron has promised to help save Portsmouth - a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Smile

Middlesbrough 0-2 Super Leeds. Cracking game. Anybody watch it?

Leeds have gone from one of the Championship's worst for conceeding goals to only conceeding 1 in the last 4 games under the new management.
