Spain are doing an England waiting to score all the goals in the 2nd half

Seems England like to take qualifying for major tournaments to the last game, only one time in last 10 tournaments have England qualified before the last game and that was 2010 World Cup under Capello

I would not like to be Roy Hodgson reading the papers this morning. I would imagine some of it would be uncomfortable reading.

I really was disappointed to see that we still did not dive enough or cheat the ref into showing red cards. What's the point if we qualify but then cannot compete on a level playing field with the South American teams Big Grin
Being serious I though it was an improved performance but what we really lack is a player or two with vision. There are some nice touches but passes and flick on's end up with the opposition or behind the intended player meaning the momentum disappears.

I thought we had more than enough pace up front to break open their defence. Townsend's goal was brilliant, but don't think Poland will be easy to break down on Tuesday either.
I think they will come here looking to ensure a draw, so that we end up in the playoffs. We have to be prepared for a far more nervous 90 minutes on Tuesday than last night, knowing San Marino will be conceding goals galore.

I was surprised they only beat Belarus 2-1

Part one of the double mission accomplished but it wasn't without its scares. With Poland having little to play for on Tuesday that certainly tips the balance in our favour - but I'm sure Ukraine will demolish San Marino on Tuesday. Could still be some squeaky bum time before this group's done.

I would only criticise us for wasting the amount of corners we had in the game. If we had taken a few of those chances I reckon we could have relaxed a lot better.

I listened to radio5 live pre match last night. It was mentioned that when Roy announced his team, many (media) were criticising him for not picking a player they wanted in the team ie: Milner and that Townsend shouldn't be playing in a game like this. So well done Roy, many advanced back page headlines had to be rewritten no doubt.
