Jak it is moving up a gear this morning. But it's tonight where it will all count.

What's going on with the snook?
I thought I'd tune in to see Ronnie O'Sullivan beat Donald Trump so quickly that they've time to show a whole series of Dad's Army and blow me down but they've got a whole load of new blokes.
Fortunately one of them's called Jack Jones.

Before the World Championship, Kyren was having a poor season by his standards, not even making the top 32 on the 1 year ranking list. His 17-11 victory over Gilbert means he'll remember it as one of his best. Particularly if he goes on to become the World Champion.

Kyren's win means John Higgins will remain in the the top 16 after the World Championship, but Robert Milkins will make way for the winner of the Jones v Bingham match. Kyren will become World no.3 if he wins the World Championship.

Bingham stuffed his luck in frame 25, just as he was keeping Jones cold. Hendry buried him afterwards "this is why he's where he is, picking wrong shots" which I thought was premature if he managed to come back for victory.

Both losing semi finalist have had a big wobble and have contributed to their defeats. All down to the pressure of the occation.

Jak Jones beats Bingham 17-12. Great achievement for him.

In the end Kyren Wilson was far too relentless for Gilbert to keep up and was more clinical more often.
Jak Jones saw out a lot of scrappy frames very effectively albeit courtesy of a lot of easy balls missed by Bingham.

I rather suspect for Jones to win the final his scoring power will have to increase markedly as I doubt he will get 3 or 4 chances to win frames. If he can score heavily on a regular basis and win scrappy frames as well he has a chance. If not then Wilson may zoom off into the distance and claim a big victory.

Best wishes to both players.

P.S - Wilson and Jones sounds either like a law firm or like a Dads Army reunion laugh.

At least it is a new name on the famous trophy but then they have to defeat the Crucible curse next year, very much want to see Jak Jones win it even though it would be a first world title for both.

I hope now Hearns can concentrate on keeping the Championship at the Crucible for a few more years, there's nothing like it but if it does move I hope they can find a venue that offers the same amount of intimacy that the Crucible has provided but I think to take it around the world has to be the last option to consider if all other options for a new venue are exhausted.

Glad Jones won to be honest mainly for Karma when Bingham made the referee redo that foul when the white was behind the green took a good 5-10 mins to repostion about 10 balls that had moved during the foul and then Jones got it next time Tongue Tongue

A fantastic win for Jones and for Wales. If the silent assassin wins he will be only the 4th Welshman to lift the trophy after Ray Reardon, Terry Griffiths and Mark Williams.

Before the World Championship, Jones highest ranking was 35. Edit: Apologies I totally f*cked up my previous calculation. He will be 14th if he loses, and 6th if he wins. Still quite an achievement for him though.
