RE: Olympics - Snooks - 15-08-2016 02:28 Gold medals in 9 different sports. Can any other nation claim that at these Games? From what I can work out the answer is no. USA currently have gold medals in 8 sports. Team GB are excelling in numerous sports with gold medal prospects in more to come. Sailing will be sport number 10 with Giles Scott. Possibilities in Triathlon, Hockey, Boxing and Equestrian too. And who knows what else? Amazing. I conclude already that this could easily end up being GBs finest ever Olympiad. The sheer range of sporting achievement is beyond anything I have ever seen. Phenomenal. . RE: Olympics - Charlemagne - 15-08-2016 06:11 5 golds medals in one day.. or was it more, I lost count And there could be more today. RE: Olympics - HannahsPet - 15-08-2016 10:28 2 in gymnastics 1 in tennis 1 in golf 1 in sprint was the finn class in sailing but that wont be counted till tuesday Really hope cavendish can medal will be a crime that e of the best cyclist of this generation comes away with nothing RE: Olympics - Snooks - 15-08-2016 12:02 Best wishes to Kerri-Anne Payne who is beginning her 10km marathon open water swim. I really felt for her after an agonising 4th place finish in London. Go Kerri-Anne!! RE: Olympics - circles_o_o_o - 15-08-2016 12:17 RE: Olympics - Snooks - 15-08-2016 14:47 Sophie Hitchon . RE: Olympics - HannahsPet - 15-08-2016 14:50 thought she was out of it when that moldovan drug cheat went past her but last throw won the bronze RE: Olympics - Snooks - 15-08-2016 14:54 Yeah. That's justice . 74.54m. What a fabulous performance. RE: Olympics - Tractor boy - 15-08-2016 15:40 Drug cheats should be banned for life. RE: Olympics - lovebabes56 - 15-08-2016 15:51 How is it that drug cheat can get hit with a 4 year ban or a two year ban and are allowed to compete again? Like I've always said if your banned for life for ANYTHING it MEANS that you are banned for life, there are times when I think sporting federations (& the IOC in particular), are not tough enough in handing out the strongest bans possible. Hopefully now with the USSR doping scandal now out in the open it will give the federations a kick up the backside and realise in some areas of sport there isn't a level playing field anymore. But what has surprised me most that with this Olympics we have heard very little about any of the athletes actually testing positive for any substance. Whether the scandal with the USSR has anything to do with that scenario remains to be seen and I do feel that we haven't heard the last of that scandal for a good while yet. |
