The Ultimate Fighter Live
It's on ESPN this FRIDAY/Saturdsy at 2am NOT Saturday/Sunday.

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson Says He’s One More and Done with the UFC

Is Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s time with the UFC coming to a close?

After a series of messages on his Twitter account, it certainly appears that way. The former UFC light heavyweight champion, who has dropped his last two bouts in a row, says that after one more trip to the Octagon he’s exiting the UFC.

And just to clarify, he’s leaving the UFC, not retiring from fighting altogether.

“I will fight whoever they put in front of me, I always have, but it will be my last fight in the UFC,” Jackson wrote. “I have other things on my mind.

“I didn’t say I would be done fighting, I just said I’m not fighting for the UFC (u fight cheap). Said I have other things on my mind (big head).”

From the sound of Jackson’s messages, he’s obviously unhappy with the UFC for both their pay structure as well as advice they are giving him on his career.

He responded to another fan question when quizzed about why he was leaving the UFC, and Jackson stated, “Why should I stay? I don’t need them or anybody else negative dealing with my career.”

This isn’t the first time Rampage has lashed out after a loss in the UFC. Following his defeat to Jon Jones in September 2011, Jackson stated he was considering a career in boxing.

UFC president Dana White threw cold water on the situation after Jackson’s initial statement because he was still under contract with them at the time.

“He’s under contract. He’s not boxing until… I mean, if he wants to box when his contract is up, that’s up to him,” White stated.

Jackson’s current contract situation is unknown, but if he does have only one fight left on his deal, his time with the UFC may indeed be coming to a close.

Regardless, Jackson will be in the UFC for at least one more fight and will then make a decision on where his fighting future will take him.

Rampage's last 3 paydays.

UFC144 $200,000 -$50,000 for missing weight.
UFC 135 $325,000 ($250,000 to show, $75,000 Fight of the Night bonus)
UFC 130 $250,000 (no win bonus).

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 08-03-2012 14:25

Cain Velasquez vs Frank Mir title-eliminator just been added to UFC 146. Another fight just added is Roy Nelson vs Antonio Silva! Big Country vs Bigfoot! eek

So that's Dos Santos vs Overeem for the title, Velasquez vs Mir title eliminator, Nelson vs Silva and Gonzaga vs undefeated KO artist Shane del Rosario all on one card... Smile

A Heavyweight feast in store lads!! Could be an early night Rolleyes

The only downside is that Dan Hardy will probs drop into the pre lims, unless they have another 6 fight Main card or Miller vs Dollaway drops instead...

Edson Barboza vs Evan Dunham looks likely for 146 aswell. What a card.

RE: UFC - mitchell - 08-03-2012 21:24

The full UFC 146 card set for May 26.

Junior Dos Santos v Alistair Overeem
Cain Velasquez v Frank Mir

Antonio Silva (Bigfoot) v Roy Nelson (Big Country), I doubt the Yanks have it in them but this fight is pun central.
Dan Hardy v Duane Ludwig
Gabriel Gonzaga v Shane del Rosario
C.B. Dollaway v Jason Miller
Jacob Volkmann v Paul Sass
Darren Elkins v Diego Brandao
Kyle Kingsbury v Glover Teixeira

RE: UFC - 199lives - 10-03-2012 23:49

Getting bored of Rampage's whining if he wants to retire fine i actually expected him too he doesn't seem to care anymore . but why why keep complaining about the company that kept him out of jail and pay him much much more than anyone else is going to. There was a recent interview were he walked around his house and showed off his half dozen cars, the ufc made him rich.

I was sceptical of the new TUF but the first episode is great. 16 one round fights will not post spoillers yet give people a chance to watch it. except that just for Mitchel and G'n'P the scouser gets subtitled.again Bounce

RE: UFC - mitchell - 11-03-2012 13:05

It made me laugh when they subtitled the Scouser but didn't the Geordie, the Newcastle guy Andy Ogle looked decent in his 5 min, I thought the decision was the right one in the end.

I'm not sure about one of the stoppages though I thought Mike Mazzagatti was a bit quick to stop the fight when the guy put his opponent down in 8sec, you could see he went to grab hold straight away but ended up grabbing Mazzagatti as he'd already jumped in.

This one round thing is pretty good like the Prizefighter series, I think they coud start a junior division for ages 18-22 with them fighting 1 5min round, they'd probably not learn much given most MMA fighters nowadays mostly train BBJ & wrestling but it would give them big show experience & also help those who are predominantly ground fighters improve their standup faster & more effectively.

I think TUF LIVE is repeated on ESPN at midnight Wednesday, the only video link I can find is here. http://www.mma-core.com/videos/tv/TUF_15_Live_on_FX_Episode_1_Part_1/10027317 It's in 6 parts, I've only checked the first & the quality doesn't look great.

RE: UFC - Ducky - 11-03-2012 17:08

I've been real busy, lately, and only gotten as far as watching the Andy Ogle fight on TUF Live, after I finished teaching a friend, a private MMA lesson at my home, yesterday morning.
I'm about to watch the rest of the show (as long as my phone doesn't ring, anyway) and wanted to just pop by to say that although I don't have much time to contribute to this thread, I think you guys make cool, interesting & often fun, posts.

I hope you enjoy the remainder of your weekend folks Smile

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 11-03-2012 20:39

Cheers mate, same to you!

Not seen TUF yet. Catch up on Wed, if Mitchell's post's right.
