RE: Ofcom Discussion - blackjaques - 16-07-2012 19:28 Makes you all wonder who is all this censorship designed to protect. I think it's Ofcon themselves. RE: Ofcom Discussion - dan g 27 - 16-07-2012 22:32 Theres another issue I have with parents not being responsible for their children in terms of what they watch on tv. I have mentioned before that if people find something offensive or parents feel that a certain programme is not suitable for their children that they should change the channel and not ruin it for the vast majority that don't complain about what they see in a programme. But, theres another way for parents to take responsiblitiy for what their kids watch on tv, instead of letting Ofcom do their parenting. I'm sure many people here are aware, who have Sky are aware of the information button on their remote control. Well, if I see something that might interest me, I press the information button to check what it is about. Also when you press the information button not only does it tell you what the programme is about, it tells you that the programme may contain violence, bad language or scenes of sexual nature. So, what I'm getting at here is instead of parents acting shocked and running to Ofcom, because they see something that may be harmful to their children. How about the parents check what the programme is about first before watching. Its a very simple solution. Parents need to start acting responsible and stop expecting Ofcom to do the parenting for them RE: Ofcom Discussion - eccles - 17-07-2012 00:52 Im pretty sure Ofcom have said parents should take responsibility in the past. If not then the survey groups have. Their get out is kids who know how to get round the system, naive parents and shit parents. But thats not the point. For late night shows, say after 10 or 11 at night, Ofcom have not used the child protection argument for about a year. Instead they say shows exceed audience expectations. Meaning adults. Thats right, you can tune in and see Gunter von Hagens dissecting a corpse by cutting it in half lengthways with a circular saw on Channel 4 to illustrate how airways in the throat works, and thats acceptable. You can see people being beaten to a pulp for real in live cage fighting (probably). Or watch torture porn like Hostel, Saw or Audition on the likes of Channel 4 and Film 4. You can see a cock going up a fanny in Antichrist, real penetration and group sex in The Idiots. You can even see one man pissing on anothers face in The Counterfeiters if that is your thing (BBC). Do these exceed audience expectations? Probably. The scenes are mostly there for shock effect. But apparently its OK to enjoy settling down in front of the telly and watching someone being beaten, dissected, tortured, humilated or shagged as long as the type of enjoyment is on the approved list. On the other hand mature adults are not allowed to watch unharmful consenting activities that many 16 years olds have seen. RE: Ofcom Discussion - shankey! - 17-07-2012 06:50 one thing i cant get my head around is how come a tv soap like eastenders for instance can be complained about by up to or over a 100 people to ofcom and they dont get so much as a fine ? yet 1 complaint made against a babe channel can result in a fine , just dont make sense RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 17-07-2012 16:01 The reasons to all the above as to why we are still seeing such a level of inconsistency is because ofcom don't like the babe channel's never have and never will, all they do is tolerate them but allways making sure that in the process that they do their best to dampen the party, make it as restrictive as possible. Ofcom can't close the channels down by law because they have no grounds to do so because as the law stands they cannot stop a channel broadcasting as this type of entertainment is 100% legal and to close it down would be unconstitutional. On the positive side ofcom haven't investigated a single babe channel in months now, infact out of the complaints made against them recently (only a handful mind you) ofcom have rendered them all not worth investigating so maybe they are beginning to accept this type of entertainment is here to stay. Ed Richards as we all know didn't get the BBC job so maybe as a result of this he has changed his hardline stance because right now he is viewed by many as the modern Mary Whitehouse with his out of date censorship rules which perhaps has had an impact on furthering his career any more. Who knows they allways say a leopard never changes its spots but with ofcom anything is possible. RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 17-07-2012 23:45 When you next get your hands on a dictionary please look up the word ofcom and you'll find the meaning = contradiction. So you switch on to the adult channels and at 9PM the encrypted channels are running a freeview and you get to see topless women, oh well you think let's see if this is mimicked also by the FTA Babe Channels but no, we're not allowed to show you that until 10PM, fair enough you think 10PM comes along and yet another freeview is running for the likes of Playboy, TVX and co and this time they are showing fully naked women, vagina's galore, yet the FTA Babe Channel can only show you topless women at this time. Roll on 11PM you say maybe we'll get to see a bit of action then you think. 11PM yet some of the FTA Channels are not even showing topless action nevermind any kind of nakedness other than the odd one occasionally, so you think all good and done but wait a minute they aren't allowed to show their vagina. So one rule for one and another for the babe channels, isn't it just as likely from an ofcom point of view that a minor might unexpectantly stumble across Playboy and to see to his horror the sight of a naked women which is also just as likely to cause him such distress that he will no longer be able to be a fully functioning member of society but wait a minute their is a twist in the tale yet to come. SKY ARTS channel meanwhile have allready shocked the minor earlier on that night because they were showing Spencer Tunick's naked in mexico documentary wait for it at a shockingly 8PM, exactly 1 hour before the so-called watershed but I suppose that's fine because it's classed as art. What a croc of shit, they were showing naked women, if that's ok to be shown then why not on a channel that can allready be blocked via the parental control button anyway. Ofcom = contradiction. Another book you might want to look at also is the bible, it too is full of contradictions very similar to the way of thinking that those at ofcom view the world. RE: Ofcom Discussion - eccles - 18-07-2012 00:36 The past 4 bulletins have contained one full investigation against Masti Chat (in breach), initial investigations against Babestation and Red Light Central (Other Programmes Not In Breach) and repeat complaints against Storm and Playboy. The relative lack of full investigations and In Breach findings is welcome, but it is not all plain sailing and someone seems to be out to get Storm and Playboy. Bulletin 209 (9 July) Assessed Not Investigated
Bulletin 208 (25 June) Complaints Assessed Not Investigated
n/a Bulletin 207 (11 June) Full Investigation
n/a Bulletin 206 (21 May) Other Programmes Not In Breach
RE: Ofcom Discussion - dan g 27 - 18-07-2012 15:43 I seem to remember somebody posted here that the babes can't say bad language at a certain time, then how come when I watch Hell's Kitchen Gordon Ramsay is allowed to say fuck and piss off from 9 to 10pm on tv? RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 18-07-2012 15:55 For the same reason's dan that the presenters also can't speak like a foul mouthed coal minor on the shopping channels either. We need the classification rules challenged and changed which the babe channels currently fall under. Maybe they should think of encrpting the whole lot and charging a one off fee to have them all unblocked, mind you I've allready suggested that in the past. I fear right now all we are doing is going round in circles. Ofcom are not proper and fit to be TV Regulators, they have their own agenda which is prejudice. Until they are replaced, disbanded or have a change of opinion regarding this type of entertainment we will forever be at the mercy of them. RE: Ofcom Discussion - fedup1 - 18-07-2012 16:30 This is how to complain about ofcom youwrite to this bloke called Graham Howell http://www.ofcom.org.uk/about/policies-and-guidelines/complaints-about-ofcom/ I have written to him with a barrage of hyprocritical content that oftwats spout..If more folk complain the more it registers but no-one will just me..Oh well i will carry on like i do asking why female genatalia is so evil it is the most taboo thing on UK Tv..Oh and "my daughter teenage nudist! on again tuesday freeview 14 11.05pm..They are taking piss now just showing every penis programme they can..I am going to complain again for third time to ofcom and channel 4 as to why this hyprocritical full power sexist docu exists and ask again are they going to do My son the teenage nudist and fill it full of fanny lips..This show is just a penis show nothing else when its supposed to be about her daughter which BREAKS OFCOMS RULES..Nudity must be shown in context so what the fucking cunting hell is channel 4 and 5 doing parading penises on every sodding programme they can and not one sign of a fanny lip or clitoris. Go and fuck yourselves because it only takes a hacker to get a list of names at ofcom and so on and they shall be stoned because they are all SEXIST FUCKINg twats to high heaven. |
