British actor Russell Tovey has joined the Arrowverse he has been cast as the DC character The Ray who will be gay, he voicing the character on the animated series Freedom Fighters then showing up in the CW 4 Part crossover “Crisis on Earth-X” something tells me this will tie into the Freedom Fighters animated series as the evil doppelgängers will be showing up there first too.
The description of his character:
Raymond 'Ray' Terrill was a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the project head exposed Ray to a 'genetic light bomb.' The bomb failed to kill him and instead gifted Ray with light-based powers. With these abilities, Ray realized he could go beyond reporting on injustice — he could take action to help stop it. Calling himself The Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression wherever it exists”

By the looks of things there basing the crossover “Crisis On Earth-X” Story on the graphic novel JLA Earth 2 by Grant Morrison.
The evil versions of characters remind me of the group called the Crime Syndicate were a evil version of the Justice League from Earth 2 and there’s Animated movie called Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths which people might find of interest.
