RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - Fernandez Esperenda - 04-07-2014 23:18 The ball was on its way out anyway before he went down. RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - mikedafc - 05-07-2014 00:23 Fractured Veterbrae for Neymar, he is out of World Cup RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - dominar rygel xvi - 05-07-2014 03:03 It looked serious at the time so I'm not surprised. It's hard to feel sorry for Brazil though, after they racked up so many fouls in the match themselves. The referee was way too lenient. RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - lovebabes56 - 05-07-2014 05:52 That means he will probably miss the start of Barcelona's season I would have thought RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - HannahsPet - 05-07-2014 06:16 (04-07-2014 22:52 )Fernandez Esperenda Wrote: Well we will not be scared by the German team... and that will be your downfall RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - bytor - 05-07-2014 07:14 Can see Brazil v Germany being a dour game dominated by cynical tackling. I think it's too close to call. However, Germany are a team, they don't have a glamour player but play well together and have a decent defence in front of arguably the best keeper at the tournament. Brazil have no Silva and Neymar and the defence is a weakness with Dante, Marcelo and Maicon all suspect. RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - FormallyInfernal - 05-07-2014 07:15 A definite great pity. It's huge fun pointing out his fallibilities but it's knowing that a few seconds later, when he usually gets up, we might be treated to sublime skills. It's one of football's great dichotomies. We tacitly approve of much bad and unsportsmanlike behaviour by celebrating results - of matches or just passages of play - as much as we decry it if our interests as supporters or neutrals aren't served. There's no easy answer, were we to hope to change that, seeing as we do kind of thrive on the confrontational nature of footballing culture. Wholehearted change is unlikely, amendments are possible. The need to introduce goal-line technology was overdue but I think it can be argued that the disappearing foam has made the most impact at this tournament. Its accuracy is still dependent on the referee but it's supplied an entertaining new ritual (to us at least) and illustrates just how badly the law of distance to the wall has been officiated in the past! Maybe we wouldn't be any happier if one of ITV's former pundits was on board, but it's a funny old game... |
