Bloody hell a fractured vertebrae! Surprised I didn't think it would be that serious, even when he went down I thought he'd miss the semi and be back for the final (or the third place play-off - whichever one happens Wink ) but a busted back has to be a nightmare for Brazil and Barcelona.

Germany won't be foolish enough to think without Neymar Brazil will be easy, far from it. They'll already have at least three or four different plans to win, we know Germany are renowned for the precision planning ahead of these matches. And If anything this could make Brazil even more determined to win the thing, prove to people that its not all about Neymar.

If Brazil do survive a bruising against Germany you have to wonder how much they'll have left for the final against either Holland or Argentina - sorry Belgium and Costa Rica. Wink

At the moment though I'm leaning towards it being a Germany v Argentina final.

Gosh and I just thought that he was wasting time at the end of the match.
I should have known that it was a real injury. He failed to throw himself up in the air & didn't role over the obligitory three times.

But it was another bad challenge which failed to get a card from the the ref.

The refereeing has been appalling at the tournament - so many bad challenges have gone unpunished and perfectly good goals scrubbed out for no reason. For me its been the only down side of whats been a thoroughly enjoyable competition.

Heartily agree. how it wasn't a yellow card was beyond me. Whatever what the brief was before the tournament started, I wonder if referees were briefed not give any highly rated player any protection. Some the tackles in this tournament would have seen a straight red in the PL. In Cesar's case I think he committed himself and couldn't prevent the outcome.

It is a sad loss. Neymar has been a delight to watch at times with some of his moves and has been one of only a few to individually shine. A Netherlands v Brazil final would be my choice and may the best, most entertaining team win Smile

We should have known when we didn't see him fly and roll around like a barca player, big loss to the tournament and fans but we will have Messi to watch. I would say Robben but he will just dive all over the place

Chris Waddle was unconvinced by Brazil's performance last night even when they had Neymar. He says that if they win the trophy they will be the worse team ever to win it.

Was Fred playing last night? I never noticed him mentioned.
I'm suprised that no-one has started a poll to see if Fred is Brazil's worse ever striker Wink

The Brazil doctor said 4 weeks. La Liga starts on 23 August so Neymar should be OK for that.
