A player for Corinthians has been given a 6 month ban for pushing a referee out of his way. Kind of makes Suarez's ban look lenient in comparison

I would say at worst it was similar to the Paolo Di Canio push on a referee which resulted in an 11 match ban. The 6 months seems harsh and understandably Corinthians are appealing aginst the verdict.

Generally speaking most countries football authorities take a far more serious view of pushing or hitting a referee than they would if it was another player.
