And he was ony included after Jos Buttler was injured pre match Bairstow was tremendous, as he has been all year, but I don't see where he fits in to the ODI side when everyone's fit. Morgan is the only player whose place you could question but he's had a good series and his captaincy is one of the main reasons for our dramatic improvement in this format. Remarkable position considering where we were after the last World Cup RE: England (Men/Women) Test/ODI/T20 Series 2016 (Sri Lanka & Pakistan) - Charlemagne - 02-09-2016 13:37 ^ The team is full of big hitters. They could either hit 400+ or all out for 100. They need Bairstow in the team to an a bit of balance to the batting, even if it's at the cost of losing the captain And Morgan's not really any good at captaincy RE: England (Men/Women) Test/ODI/T20 Series 2016 (Sri Lanka & Pakistan) - jimminybob - 02-09-2016 16:10 ^ I definitely see your argument but the depth in batting is such that I think they can afford all the aggressive players. Every player in the team yesterday had a first-class hundred. As for Morgan's captaincy, I'm inclined to agree about his on-field tactics but I think it would be wrong to underestimate the influence he's had off the field in changing our approach to white ball cricket. They play for him, and that's a huge part of captaincy. Still very harsh on Bairstow if he's left out though. Tough calls but a good problem to have RE: England (Men/Women) Test/ODI/T20 Series 2016 (Sri Lanka & Pakistan) - Mellow - 04-09-2016 09:31 For the 5th & final ODI in Cardiff Pakistan won the toss and have put England in to bat. RE: England (Men/Women) Test/ODI/T20 Series 2016 (Sri Lanka & Pakistan) - Charlemagne - 04-09-2016 10:40 ^ It's always a wise thing to put in the opposition in September England are currently 92-3 off 14.3 over. Roy is 45 no RE: England (Men/Women) Test/ODI/T20 Series 2016 (Sri Lanka & Pakistan) - Mellow - 04-09-2016 13:18 England have scored 302-9 in 50 overs. England win the series 4-1 RE: England (Men/Women) Test/ODI/T20 Series 2016 (Sri Lanka & Pakistan) - cosmonaut - 05-09-2016 10:12 England fell a bit short in their innings. At 255/5 with 9 overs to go, the final total of 302 was disappointing, and Pakistan seized their chance. |
