It is when you pay Messi a million quid a week and spend over 140 million on Coutinho.

Hmmm almost like there is something that could help prevent those kinds of figures bankrupting a club and driving transfers and wages up for all clubs. Something along the lines of a salary cap and transfer fee cap perhaps. Never happen even though it should.

You think the Super League is bad wait to you hear the new Champions League format 36 teams in one single league playing just 10 times against 10 teams and how they will go about adding the extra teams is getting them 2 of them from the smaller leagues which i think is the only good idea about this plan then the other 2 teams which is stupid they will be going by performance over the last 5 seasons.

And how can you have 36 teams in one single league it's absolutely ridiculous this is Super League 2.0 and they sneaked this in while everyone was running riot with the Super League.

Proper details of the plan copied on the UEFA website.

Taking the total number of teams from 32 to 36 in the UEFA Champions League, the biggest change will see a transformation from the traditional group stage to a single league stage including all participating teams. Every club will now be guaranteed a minimum of 10 league stage games against 10 different opponents (five home games, five away) rather than the previous six matches against three teams, played on a home and away basis.

The top eight sides in the league will qualify automatically for the knockout stage, while the teams finishing in ninth to 24th place will compete in a two-legged play-off to secure their path to the last 16 of the competition.

Similar format changes will also be applied to the UEFA Europa League (8 matches in the league stage) and UEFA Europa Conference League (6 matches in the league stage). Subject to further discussions and agreements, these two competitions may also be expanded to a total of 36 teams each in the league stage.

Qualification for the UEFA Champions League will continue to be open and earned through a team’s performance in domestic competitions.

One of the additional places will go to the club ranked third in the championship of the association in fifth position in the UEFA national association ranking. Another will be awarded to a domestic champion by extending from four to five the number of clubs qualifying via the so-called “Champions Path”.

The final two places will go to the clubs with the highest club coefficient over the last five years that have not qualified for the Champions League group stage but have qualified either for the Champions League qualification phase, the Europa League or the Europa Conference League.

All games before the final will still be played midweek, recognising the importance of the domestic calendar of games across Europe.

^And this is why our stand against the #BIG6 owners shouldn't just stop at the big 6 owners. We should also direct anger at the FA, PL, EFL UEFA & FIFA to really clear out the corruption, backhanders out for good, and to put their own fucking houses in order for the good of the game too!!
Especially the FA's 'fit and proper test' is IMHO - not fit for purpose!! Always has been and always will be!! How many of the sales of clubs would have happened if the fit and proper tests was rigid strong and allowed us fans to have the final say???

I know it won't happen, but once the bad owners are out of ghe clubs and out of the those orgsnisations are next on the hit list foir sure. Platini for me set the rot in UEFA. If the FA & & PL had any sense they would band together with other associations to vote this plan down for the good of out domestic game scrap the league system and push for a return to straight knockout competitions to ease the pressure on the domestic game. SOMETHING STINKS about this UEFA plan and is just as worse as the ESL. UEFA is just way too bloated and is not fit for the puropse of running the game in Europe. And I doubt very much FIFA will do little to oppose it. (If it hasn't already)

If Rangers and Celtic really wanted to be in the Premier League it's hard to see how they could be stopped. The Northern Premier League has said it would accept them (at level 8) so if they joined and if they got promotion every season they could reach the PL in a mere 7 years. It's no different to Swansea and Cardiff being in the PL despite being in Wales and both of those clubs have been in the PL in recent times. This plan would however mean that Rangers and Celtic would have to start their life in England by playing the likes of Tadcaster Albion and Ramsbottom Utd.
