The Chief Exec of HMRC has torpedoed Zahawi’s claim that it was a mistake.

He’s told a cross party group of MPs that “there are no penalties for innocent mistakes in your tax affairs”.

Big Laugh

exactly we would be hammered if it was a mistake on our forms not to mention if it was 27 million pound one

^ You’ve missed the point. You don’t get “hammered” for genuine mistakes, you only have to pay the outstanding tax plus interest.

Actual fines/penalties are only issued to people trying to duck & dive….

^ The best bit is the the HMRC have said that if Zahawi gives permission they will tell the Prime Ministers Ethics guy who is investigating Zahawi everything that went on in reaching a settlement with Zahawi. He has to agree to that or he will be accused of trying to hide the facts

Nadhim Zahawi has been sacked by Rishi Sunak after the completion of the investigation. The Prime Minister told the Tory chairman in a letter that it is “clear that there has been a serious breach of the Ministerial Code”.

Oh what a surprise…..not

Zahawi's letter to Sunak in response to his sacking makes no mention of why he was sacked or apology for his actions. Astonishing arrogance from someone who has proven he is unfit to hold public office. No doubt he'll be back as a minister in a few years.
