RE: Olympics - lovebabes56 - 18-08-2016 04:02 Let's hope that they have been inspired by what the Men did in Seoul in 1988!! I would have thought not many of the ladies were born when that happened and if they were they can remember it!! It's a pity that our men's team didn't draw their own inspiration from that. If anything this team has carried on the good work from London and are producing such quality performances that we can safely say this the best Olympic team we have sent overseas in a long time and it has been the best Olympic team that has performed way better than any previous overseas team we've had. Yes, we can look back on our other Olympic teams and pick out individuals who performed when mattered, but I'd say we probably we've never had a team perform so collectively as our last two, and tough we may never have a team as significantly as strong as this one in Tokyo (which remains to be seen), but some of those who have performed in their first Olympics in Rio will likely form the nucleus of our team in Tokyo and I expect there will be many of this team who will be missing in Tokyo for various reasons I'm sure. On a more serious note all thoughts and prayers are with Sky presenter Charlie Webster battling for life In a Rio hospital after contracting what appears to be a rare strain of malaria. I do hope they can find the cure. RE: Olympics - Charlemagne - 18-08-2016 07:35 I've noticed one of the gold coloured postboxes in the towns where the olympic winners live. So in Cheshunt in Cheshire where Lara Trott & Jason Kenny live will the post office have to paint 10 of their boxes. Are there 10 post boxes in the town? Puts everything in perspective, hope she pulls through. I remember watching the final in 88, they are still looking for the German defence.
