Well Sky just breaking news Unaminous Decision Against

RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 04-07-2012 18:41

Well after a delay that seemed to last an eternity the right decision was made, I must admit I was concerned that the chairmen that came out in the press stating that they would vote no were away to do a dramatic u-turn after a series of last minute negotions from Charles Green, as it turned out 10 clubs voted no with one abstention. What I don't understand is why the club 12 slot still can't be decided, Dundee are favourites to fill the void but that won't be decided until the 12th July. That would give who ever comes in only 3 weeks to prepare their squad for the SPL. I predict that the SPL will not kick off on time as scheduled. Lets hope out of this shambolic mess that lessons are learned and that we finally see Scottish football prosper. Dundee United for the title anybody Rolleyes

Who ever thought we'd ever see the day when the mighty Gers would became the mighty beggers Wink Please let us in into Division 1 I hear them cry Big Laugh after their last minute begging ofcourse to reclaim their place in the SPL fell on it's arse ( a bit like Rangers) laugh

Hm.....I'm a bit confused here but didn't Rangers state not too long ago that they wanted to leave Scottish football for the riches of England and that we couldn't live without them bladewave so that'll explain then why today they were told in no uncertain terms to get to fuck Smile Let me get my violin out and play the gers a song or in their case it would ofcourse have to be a flute Big Laugh

Seemingly Killie abstained, and Rangers voted for themselves...
If one of the lower leauges accepts them, where will they play the home games? They don't own Ibrox stadium anymore.

...

I thought Dunfermline were favourites as there is precedence of allowing the relegated team to stay up.

Given the sorry state Rangers are in, staying in the SPL was probably not a sensible plan anyhow, they barely have a team, and aren't likely to attract, or be able to afford, top quality players, so they could well have been fighting a relegation battle anyhow.

The sensible option now is to start them in the lowest division and let them fight their way back, but I feel from the discussions being had, that a deal will be done to place them in division one. I see no logic to justify that, it would be a purely financial decision by those clubs hoping to get some benefit from having Rangers visit their grounds, but I can see it happening.

On the issue on who gets to take Rangers place, who was the team that got promoted, was it Dundee? Because if it is, they should get to replace Rangers in the SPL next season
