England regrouped well after tea. Before tea the bowling was too short and off line.
After tea, much much better lines and lengths. Broad was excellent but spare a bit of credit for Bresnan too.
He scored 45 valuable runs in the 2nd England innings and then tied up an end while Broad was taking wickets.

If it had gone to 5th day with 1 wicket standing , it would have been free entry ,surely ?

I've only seen C5 highlights (recording Fernanda on sky.Bet that's first time she's been mentioned in a cricket thread !) and I agree with you .I thought they bowled too short ,especially to Warner & Rogers .I thought overall the wicket was a bit like bowling on glue .It seemed like the ball was holding up and not going through at its true pace .Obviously there was the odd one that did ,usually resulting in a wicket or a near miss .Once again when this England team look in trouble ,someone steps up to the mark .This afternoon its been Stuart Broad ,ably assisted by Bresnan & Swann .

I'm all for sharing Test Matches around the country but in no way was this a good wicket.Almost as bad as giving Cardiff an Ashes Test.No issues with the ground & well supported.

A 3-0 lead with one test to go flatters England the sides are much closer. If you weigh up the wickets taken, batting & bowling averages, scoring rates etc.there's nothing in it.England have just found a way to get over the line.

would you keep the nucleus of this squad for the winter tour down under? If so which other players would you take as cover and which players would you take as uncapped for their first tour of Australia?

I thought the wicket was pretty good and gave us an intriguing test match. Rogers and Bell got centuries, so there were certainly runs to be had. Maybe the clouds were around a lot during the match and helped the bowlers too much, but I thought the wicket itself was a good test wicket.
