RE: Cricket Banter - lovebabes56 - 19-10-2024 02:17 I've been thinking if there was a way to do so: - I'd love to see a new T20 KO Cup competition or even revamp The Hundred so that it was based on the set up of the old Gillette Cup whereby County sides took on Minor County sides (and in some cases Scotland, Ireland, and maybe the Netherlands or even Wales) I think it would be a boost to minor couny game. There is very little mentioned of thr Minor county championship )I'm sure it still exists)/ I am sure that there are many of us who look back to the old Gillette Cup competition with fondness where maybe our own county took on a mighty county championship and won. I do recall that I had some somewhere a book on the Gillette Cup and I am pretty sure my own County (Hertfordshire) pulled off one or two upsets. But I thnk one abiding memory of the Gillette Cup I have is that Lancashire semi Final where it finished in near darkness - I think it was the latest ever to a one day game in this country at the time, and I think Lancashire were either batting or bowling, and possibly it was what somewhere between 1975 - 1980? (or later)? So just to go down memory any Gillete Cup memories of games attended I attended several B & H Cup Finals and Gillette Cup Finals with my cousin at the time, and the Saturday of the Ashes Lord's Test Match in 1981. Having tied on 170 in regular play USA ended up 2 all out in 4 balls in their super over ![]() Nepal reached 3/0 off 4 balls to win. RE: Cricket Banter - Charlemagne - 20-10-2024 13:42 It's possible that Jamie Smith won't be available to play one or some of the tests against New Zealand in December. Essex keeper Jordan Cox is being brought into the squad as cover.
