Superb post, Sir.
My observations would be , though, that when you talk of viewer expectaions in terms of exlicit content, it is Ofcon's expecations and not viewer expecations that take precedence.
Viewr expectations is to see full R18. Ofcon's are "Confessions of a Window Cleaner".

They are not willing for us to grow up.

Which has allready been pointed out numourous times, offence is only in the eyes of the beholder. In countries such as Iran for example the women have to cover up their faces with a burka.

Here in the UK we're not so bad but the same law of principal remains the same when it comes to the babe shows. Breasts, bare legs, feet etc could actually be viewed by many to be more offensive than the mere sight of a vagina. What offends you won't neccessary offend the next person. It's all or nothing as far as I'm concerned.

A babe channel that is permitted should be allowed freedom of art without being dictated to what body parts or dress codes ofcom deems to be offensive. Storms latest fine is bullshit, Ofcom objected because the presenter was wearing fishnet stockings.

Earlier on that day meanwhile the BBC was airing womens beach volleyball, if ofcom want to fine the babe channels for inappropriate clothing then make sure you dish out the same punishment to the BBC whilst you're at it. Hypricritical bunch of cunts Cool

If the viewing public grew up overnight and stopped complaining about what was on TV and in the papers, Ofcum would be out of a job and out on the street quicker than they can say "Blow job for a tener"!

It is blatent to see that they are self serving and self justifying but the government havn't the balls to turn around and say paople have to take responseability for themselves. If a station or a paper breaks the law the police should investigate not a bunch of unelected, faceless, tossers who still think it's the 1940's!

There should be a vote for British people asking them yes or no if they want Ofcom in their lives or not

I don't think they wear a burka in Iran, I think they wear headscarf's instead.

I know Iran is a dictatorship, but compared to other Muslim countries, women in Iran have more freedom

Dan women in Iran get stoned to death just for looking at another man in the wrong way. Dan have a look at this link and then ask yourself the same question again. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/8978725/Iranian-woman-sentenced-to-be-stoned-to-death-may-be-hanged-instead.html

Thanks for the link and I know that type of thing goes on. But in terms of dress code and education women in Iran have more freedom compared to other Muslim countries, but its not saying much in a worldwide scale

Well if you read the report is does make one wonder. We're all naturally presuming that things on the babefront would be better if the media was controlled by central government, but how do we know it would?

RE: Ofcom Discussion - eccles - 19-09-2012 01:30

Depends. In days of old some closet gay MPs used to be the worst conformists going, overcompensating so they didnt get kicked out. And as MPs are at the mercy of very small selection committees they are far more susceptible the pressure than a committee of unsackable civil servants.

That argument is spoilt a bit by many of the key players at Ofcom being on short term renewable contracts.

Regarding burkas, there used to be a Turkish channel (Live24?) where the women were full on legs open naked with occasional dildo use, assisted by the cameraman, but they kept their faces covered. Never found out if it was a religious thing or they were just mingers.

And its all very well saying Ofcom think we are in the 1940s, in that era discreet brothels were commonplace even in medium sized towns and the 1950s or 60s saw nude shows up and down the country in the old music halls.

We have gone backward.
