RE: Ofcom Discussion - jonnyalpha - 28-09-2012 15:15 I believe someone else has said this before but I am still confused. The babe channels are classified as advertising channels as such are governed by more stringent rules if I'm wrong pls let me know. Now what I don't understand is if advertising is limited by regulations why can pay for view adult channels on sky show breasts and bums on their free for view trailers before the 10.00 watershed or am I being a dickhead. If the channels were to change their format so they weren't selling their phone services would they get away with more hardcore stuff? surely there's a way for them to do this without losing revenue any ideas? RE: Ofcom Discussion - blackjaques - 28-09-2012 20:19 In terms of adult entertainment in the UK, Ofcon are judge, jury and executioner. They are the power guys. They will decide what is acceptable. The classification as shopping channels for the adult shows was a calculated move by Ofcon to excercise more control on the adult industry. Now they can easily clamp down on images which prove to be too erotic. On the encrypted channles they have cleverly used the "child protection" excuse for censorship. Both sets of channels are controlled heavily by this unelected body of faceless bureaucrats whose strategy is to limit/eradicate erotic enetertainment from UK TV. I see no end to their dictatorship whilst this present government is in power. As long as the country is, de facto, ruled by the Daily Mail, the Daily Express and their prurient readership with its' 'no sex please we're British' attitude it is pretty nigh impossible to see anything at all changing for the better as far as 'Adult' programmes on TV are concerned. Its all part of the Alice In Wonderland mindset that the Teleban have. When they last published "research" (in reality a small piece of market research involving a smaller sample size than commercial companies use to assess brand names for toothpaste) Ofcom themselves argued for some leniency towards adverts for encrypted channeld because they give a flavour of the content, therefore making semiexplicit content justified. The little old ladies and retired accountants they asked were tolerant of clips showing genuine shagging, provided the genital contact was not shown and it was not too pervy. Ofcom never asked how the same people felt about similar content in free to air channels. They did ask vague questions about sex and nudity in television generally, but most people have a different attitude to sex in Midsomer Murders or XFactor compared to obscure late night adult channels. Ofcom then announced that babe channels were advertising and had to comply with advertising standards. Ofcom have never evaluated public attitudes towards acceptable standards for advertising sexual content. Its fairly well established that sex sells, which is why car adverts cant feature hot birds getting turned on by the latest Vauxhall Corsa and why casinos cant have topless croupiers. In general adverts have to be chaste unless there is a clear justification for nudity or sex. A nonexplicit shagging scene might be justified in a public health ad for condoms. A womans soapy back and legs might be justified in an ad for shower gel. Having a naked woman simulate oral sex while advertising a bank would not be justified. With me so far? Ofcom interpret the advertising rules to say sexual content on babe channels is there to sell sex chat lines. Its not a smaple of the product, its long form and (claim) the public dont like it. Therefore babe channels cannot go far until late at night. But they also argue that encrypted freeviews are different. They are a sample of the content rather than a "call to action" (phone a babe at £1.53 a minute). The absurdity is that encrypted freeviews exist to sell subscriptions and PPV. They too are a call to action. By that logic Babestation Extreme could have 10 minute freeviews every hour when we could see sideon non explicit live sex with Lori eating out Geri while Lolly bangs Lori with a strap on. Late night freeviews do show dildo sucking, nipple sucking and non explicit copulation. RE: Ofcom Discussion - mrmann - 30-09-2012 00:43 What is the consensus on nipple licking on these channels between two women? Is it allowed, or not allowed? Sometimes we see it, sometimes we don't. Which is it?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 30-09-2012 01:08 The truth of the matter is none of us have a bloody clue what goes on behind the scenes, have the ofcom rules changed, fuck knows, I honesty think we've exhausted all the avenues in this thread, if they have changed you can be guaranteed no channel rep is ever going to come on here and confirm anything. I know it sounds strange coming from me but I have now more or less accepted the rules and regulations now in place and I'm just going to enjoy the shows for what they are as much as I can from now on. I've started capping the shows now and reflecting on the positives such as they are still here, so long as they remain then anything is open for change. I have no expectations anymore, they are either good or their shit, neither can I be fucked fighting the batlle for the channels either because clearly they're not interested in challenging ofcom so why should we. Petition has been signed, great idea, pity none of the channels ever thought it was ever worth while promoting it, hence the low final figure of only 816. Tommorows another day as they say and what happens in the future is destiny which I'm come to the conclusion of being on this forum bleeting about ofcom for almost 3 years now that ultimately all the rants have come to nothing. No channel rep ever checks this page, they don't care what our views are, they never backed the peition, they won't challenge ofcom, but if they all get closed down tommorow sure I'll be sorry to see them go, I've become quite fond of them but I won't feel sorry for them. Arragant fat cats only interested in taking your money from day 1 with promises that they never fullfill. RE: Ofcom Discussion - anchorman - 30-09-2012 01:11 Good question to ask mrmann! But its the fucking producers who should be asking and if they dont know by now they should be sacked. RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 30-09-2012 01:48 Even a good pussy slip is something of a rare treat these days, I found an old video of Babestation a couple of years ago with Michelle wet pussy Moist on it and believe you me she was the Queen of slips. Aye even the naked stints seems to have turned into something of art form these days with only ofcom approved positions allowed Lets hope they never bring out the next joy of sex manual |
