As a Welshman i say you have no chance of winning the world cup. So what you beat a Croatia team who played poor last night an had two of there vital players missing one injured one suspended look what happens when you play against teams like spain earlier this year you lost 2-0 an Spain outclassed you That night. Its if you beat teams of the caliber of spain that you can say you have a great chance at winning the world cup not beating a poor Croatia team who wont get passed the second round in a world cup.

Yeah fair enough we got absolutely played off the park when we played Spain, however:
1. It was a friendly
2. It was in their backyard (World Cup matches will obviously be neutral) and
3. We were not full strentgh by any means, the likes of Jagielka, C. Cole and Agbonlahor etc. all starting if a recall correctly
So therefore you cant really base our chances of winning the WC on that one game

When you look at our previous recent matches against the 'big' teams they've all been away from home in friendlies:
France 1-0 England (towards start of Cappello reign)
Holland 2-2 England
Germany 1-2 England
Spain 2-0 England

And:
England 5-1 Croatia/Croatia 1-4 England
England 1-1 Brazil (ages ago but last time we played them)

So not a great record but as i said away friendies are different to neutral competitive matches so its difficult to judge our potential of winning the WC on games like these

no chance unless they buy a few refs

Yeah I can see how us losing with a second (and in some places, third) string squad in a friendly, away from home, against a nearly full strength Spain, who are ranked the best team in the world, means that we have got no chance in the World Cup. Great reasoning Wazo.

I am going to err on the side of caution and say no, purely because I always get my hopes up and we always lose, so if I do not get them up this time then maybe we could do well. I am pretty superstitious when it comes to football for some fucking retarded reason. We must practice penalty shootouts though. Although I hope it does not come to that because every time it does I do not think my heart can take it.

All i am saying is that if we cant bring football home under capello, then it is confirmation, that it is the players that are the problem. Capello has won at LITERALLY every team he has managed. too often managers have been axed unfairly in my opinion, when the players were clearly to blame.

i put a bet on us winning the world cup 2010 about a year ago Big Grin here's hoping ay?

By sheer fact that they are in it then yes England can win the world cup

Surely the question should be will England win the world cup? Wink

i think they are contenders (as long as rooney is in the team)
spain are the team to beat, brazil are another contender
defending champions italy cant be ruled out the same with germany who have a great world cup pedegrie.
argentina have some great attacking players but defensivley their weak.
i cant see anyone else being contenders, other than these teams.

being a realist, u gotta say its gna take sumtin miraculous to happen.

Its gonna be a long hard competitive season for England's best players, its gna take its toll and the players will suffer from burnout come the tournament.

On the footballing side, we won a very very easy group. There's at least 5 teams better than us in the world, whenever we've played a gd team in a friendly we've not really looked like winning.
And of course the dreaded penalties, we don't have the bottle come the pressure situations Sad.
I hope we get to the semi's and get rid of Johnson and Barry we got a chance of at least makin the country proud

Don't be suprised to see a shit team win the world cup if the spanish teams to do well in the Champions League, the winner will come from Brazil, Argentina, France or Spain me thinks

I tnink England will be one of the favourites to win the world cup my only worry if i was English would be that you do tend to underestimate some of the lesser teams. If you do this as you have in the past then that will be your downfall.Just remember playing Portugal the last time it looked as if some off the English players that played thought they just had to turn up.
