My bosses premium red ringed yesterday. I just hope my elite never does... have you seen the new updates for the box? RE: Call of Duty: World at War - BelfastBadBoy - 26-11-2008 18:25 Yeah i looked about on forums and stuff to see which one to get PS3 or Xbox as the red ring of death did put me off a bit but then i read that its a chip thing and the Elite has a better chip that doesnt give the red ring so i bought the Elite RE: Call of Duty: World at War - patch - 26-11-2008 18:33 I have both a ps3 and an xbox. I have to send the 360 back to be repaired twice. while the ps3 is still rock solid. Also check out youtube for videos and reviews about both consoles. ps my xbox is the elite RE: Call of Duty: World at War - BristolRovers - 26-11-2008 18:55 Just to let you know you can still get RROD on the Elite, I got it quite recently actually. But it is a lot less common. -------------- In response to the PS3 and 360; I have both consoles. The PS3 is far superior hardware wise, but game wise is where the 360 wins. Xbox 360: The back-catalogue of good games on the 360 is ridiculous and their exclusives are in another league, but the reliability is the where the problem lies. Xbox Live is miles better than Playstation's equivalent (PSN) so that is a another question you should ask is: If you will be wanting to play online. One thing is though is that the Xbox 360 is in it's last couple of years. So MS might be releasing a new console in the next couple of years whereas the PS3 has just been "newly" released. PS3: There are a fair few good exclusive games which are on this console (Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet and the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 to name a few). There a less cases of reliability issues for the PS3 and apparently Sony are excellent with their Support service. The PS3 is also future proof, it has a Blu-ray drive built in so if you want to watch films in High Definition (and porn lol) this is the way to go, since the PS3 has a Ethernet port you will be able to update to the newest Blu-ray firmware. (Currently it is Blu-ray 2.0). The only problem with this console is the lack of games compared to the Xbox. Personally I use my 360 more and I hardly touch my PS3, I only use it when I am watching films. Hope that helps. I have the premium xbox, it came with a hard drive and the disc drawer is silver. I know there was some problem with the mother boards on the earlier versions, which I guess is whats wrong with mine. Tried to send it back to microsoft for a fix but they said I needed receipts to prove when I bought it, as it was a gift I never got a receipt with it and the person who bought it for me does'nt have the receipt either. RE: Call of Duty: World at War - limpwrist - 26-11-2008 21:06 Thanks for all your opinions guys! After reading through all your thoughts, I'm edging towards a PS3. Im not a massive game player, will only have a hand full of games. I will want to play them online but not bothered about features such as audio chat (is thats even possible) and other fancyness. I will deffo want to watch DVD's with it. Heard the PS3 does a lovely job at upscalling. I supose my main use for the console would be to play avi's and mp3's over my network. I take it both machines are about par for media playing/streaming capeabilities? Sorry i know we are starting to via way off the main topic! Thats strange, My mate had his xbox when they first came out at crimbo like 05 and his ringed about a year ago and he didnt send it back until about 2 months ago, they took it and didnt ask for anything. They sent it back a week later all fixed too. You should try again. Same rule should apply to all. It is more of a "Home Entertainment System" than the 360. You can stream on the 360 but it is alot more complicated and also you can't save photo's from a external HD/MS on the 360, but on the PS3 there is no problem. There is also rumoured to be a 180GB PS3 coming out early 2009, so I am not sure if you want to wait for that. (If it is coming out that is) |
