it !! I've watched all of series 1 and 2 and have been downloading series 3 as its been shown in the US. I'm hooked on the books too lol

I can't see what all the fuss is about. As far as I can see, this show is like many other shows on mainstream tv - or films, for that matter - these days (think Vampire Diaries, Twilight series, Being Human, Eastenders. Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, etc): a who's bedding who melodrama aimed at women (generally) and gay men.

Take away the fantasy elements of this type of show/film (the vampires, werewolves, witches, whatever) and then just concentrate on the actual storylines.
I'm sure you'll notice then that it's all about melodramatic romantic/erotic 'relationships'. It's like a soap opera, except some of the characters have fangs.
