Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger , Rafa Benitez , Carlo Ancelotti 4 of the best coaches in the world! Tell me someone who coaches in spain?? The Stadia full to capacity almost every weekend. Worldwide Fanbase. For me you just can't beat the Premiership. RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - whothat - 02-04-2010 09:31 if you take away your loyalty to your club and your patriotism that england has the best leauge, you cannot argue that 1.spain has more top players 2.la liga is more entertaining 3.more strength in depth (the top 4 teams is not a predetermined every season, recently more spannish sides have qualified for the champions leauge than just 4) the reason why the EPL is the most followed leauge is because it is the most widely shown around the world, and that has nothing to do with fans wanting to watch it(i doubht youd see a la liga match in a pub in america, they watch it in china, austraila etc because of the way its promoted and the money they spend promting it worldwide. Also thier are ex pats on every corner of the globe which wouuld add to the need for it to be boroadcast. In spain they couldnt give a crap about this,or should I put it they dont spend near as much branding their leauge. thiers only 4 world class players on that list ground at a push maybe 6 carragher, coles, johnson, defoe, mascherano, anelka, nasri RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - Deadman 30 - 02-04-2010 11:40 I love the footy, I have to admit I can be a bit of a statto when it comes to the premier league. I often compile stats and figures for the premier league season. I obviously don't see the la liga games as often so have voted for EPL. They are shown occasionally on sky sports, but the premier league obviously has more coverage because it is shown in countries across the world aswell where as la liga is more isolated to Spain and neighbouring countries. I regularly go and watch premier league games at my local pub, which happens to be a european cable channel! Both leagues have world class players, and for me a lot of the world class players in both leagues are from overseas, not necessarily home-grown. RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - groundnpound - 02-04-2010 15:28 Hey Whothat! Ive got to disagree with you mate. In my opinion Carragher is a world class defender.Getting on.. but still world class.I think A.Cole is the best left back in the world.G.Johnson i would say the best right back along with D.Alves.J.Defoe is a world class finisher.J.Mascherano the best defensive midfielder in the world.Would say Anelka is world class when he's in the mood! i think Nasri is one of the best midfielders in europe and think he will shine in the absence of Fabregas.I'd say 15or16 world class on the list. Its all about opinions i suppose mate. RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - seth - 02-04-2010 17:47 Evra over Ashley cole for me. RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - Phoenix - 02-04-2010 19:25 From that list i counted 12 world class players in my opinion Glen Johnson joint best right back in the world though ... especially when you consider his England place isn't exactly set in stone Finally...Ashley Cole > Patrice Evra just RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - cosmonaut - 02-04-2010 19:37 (02-04-2010 15:28 )groundnpound Wrote: In my opinion Carragher is a world class defender. Not on this season's form. He wouldn't get anywhere near a world squad. RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - seth - 02-04-2010 20:07 It all comes down to what you define as a world class player. For me, there are two truly great players in the world, and that is Messi and Ronaldo. These two players will probably be mentioned in years gone by but who will care about players like Nasri, Carragher, Defoe etc...? One thing about the Spanish league (and the Italian league in the past), is they always usually have the Ballon'dor or WPOTY winner. Cristiano Ronaldo was the only player to win the WPOTY whilst playing in England, and we all know where he's ended up. RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - colino - 03-04-2010 07:32 Jamie Carragher, world class? RE: La Liga v English Premier League! - groundnpound - 03-04-2010 12:54 As i say guys it's all about opinions and personal preference.I think Carragher would definately be on the plane if he hadn't retired from the international scene? My opinion.Granted this season has been poor but its the only poor one i can remember in the past 5 or 6 years.I think if Capello took Terry, Rio, Carra, Upson and Dawson as centre backs that'd be excellent. I agree with Seth that it comes down to what u define as world class and agree that we will only remember a handful of players playing today in years to come... Messi Ronaldo Torres Henry Gerrard Rooney Ronaldinho Giggs Ronaldo(Brazil) are some of my favourites. |
