Boardwalk is very slow but if you stick with it you'll love it

Also treme is an excellent show

I've been waiting for bloody ages now for series 2 of In Treatment. Hope they don't keep me in suspenders for much longer.

The channel does indeed have a strong lineup - lots of HBO shows such as The Wire and the two you mention here. Its great to see they have an AMC show in the very highly rated Mad Men, too - I've not seen it yet but have downloaded it based on the fact its AMC (no one else 'films' a TV show better or more beautifully in my opinion) and receives more than excellent reviews.

They can't find any quality shows to fill Sky 1 etc.

Hands up, who watches Sky1 regularly...... ?
And after a few weeks Sky Atlantic will be just as popular.

Watch Sky Sports 1 very regular - sorry Sky 1 rarely

Boardwalk Empire and Treme are the main two i am looking forward to. Heard nothing but good things about Mad Men so will give me an excuse to watch that.
Also i will never tire of seeing The Wire, The Soprano's and Curb.

For the record i love american rubbishy crap Rolleyes

RE: Sky Atlantic - BaddaBing - 25-01-2011 19:05

Boardwalk Empire is quality, real slow burning show, I don't expect it to catch over here like The Soprano's did due to the historical aspect to it but if you like your crime stuff it's really really good (bit like a TV series of The Godfather because of the pacing and setting etc).

I'm disappointed in Blue Bloods so far, someone told me it was a gritty drama about a family of cops. It's about as gritty as Beverly Hills 91210 where everything is solved and tucked away in 45 minutes. Pretty shit.

Hopefully they'll be showing Entourage, old and new, it needs saving from being buried away on ITV76 or where ever they put it. More people need to see it, best 22 minutes of comedy on TV IMHO

I wonder if californication will be added to the line up

RE: Sky Atlantic - Mister Gummidge - 26-01-2011 04:15

Should be worth a look. I missed a lot of the older shows in the line up the first time around and I'm a lazy and forgetful downloader (I still haven't d/l'd all of The Walking Dead, for example, and I'm watching Jericho on Horror because I kept forgetting to d/l the latest episodes after first broadcast). I'm also looking forward to A Game of Thrones, being a MASSIVE fan of the series of books it's based on. The fact that they've bought at least one AMC show is something to be pleased about, as well. As skateguy mentioned, AMC really go to town when they invest in a series.

Despite the crap reputation America had for telly shows in past years, recently I think they've caught up to, and arguably surpassed, Britain in terms of the volume of quality shows being produced so having a channel dedicated to putting the best of them in one place is something I'm glad of. I almost never remember F/X exists, and when I do remember and check the listings I only find episodes of NCIS, which I can't stand. Big Grin

The worst thing about Entourage on ITV was that they seemed incapable of broadcasting it on time or updating the EPG, so the ends of episodes would often be missing on Sky+ recordings.

Good news though, the latest season of Entourage is indeed on Sky Atlantic from next week.
