Had Gray apologised, like Richard Keys did, he might have got away with it. That is until his comments towards Charlotte Jackson came to light.

You have to wonder why that month old video surfaced, don't you ? Wink

Why is that the mic is only every left on when something bad is been said? you never here anything nice, I think they've been set up

Not my work this time round, but it did make me smile. Max Branning was the other linesman for that game, then. Wink

Good point Loulo12! I suppose that given the way society is these days with political correctness etc, and the fact that SKY will be scared to lose a not-insignificant proportion of their female subscribers, they probably felt they had to sack Andy Gray.

However, as someone who's loathe to change, losing perhaps THE face of SKY's football coverage is sad, especially over a few throwaway lines which were supposed to have been made in a private conversation. I've seldom watched Have I Got News For You since Angus Deayton was sacked - perhaps subconsciously because of the fact that things would never be the same again on that programme. I certainly won't stop watching the live football because Andy Gray isn't there anymore, but do feel regret at the decision.Sad

Mind you, he did once use the vacant manager's job at Everton to get himself a better deal at SKY, so perhaps he can now use that fountain of knowledge that he was always so fond of showing us via the graphics etc to get himself a REAL football job with REAL pressures. And it's not like there are never any vacancies...

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed he's gone. Yes he could spout some nonsense but I think he was fairly clued in to the modern game, how players behave to win fouls, what fans expected and so on, better than Jamie "He's a top top player" Redknapp. No doubt he'll be on another channel soon but I thinks its a big loss to Sky and especialy for such throw-away comments. Its clear he only had one joke about Massey and just said it to everyone who mentioned the fact that there was a female lino. He may have been Evertonian but I'll always have a soft spot of "OOOHHHH YOOOOUUUUUU BBEEEAAAUUUUTYYYY!!!...."

RE: Andy Gray Sexism - bigguy01 - 26-01-2011 02:39

richard keys could be sacked in morning, there as been another vid released on youtube with him, jamie "i aint no pundit" redknapp, ruud "who i am the manager of" gullitt and some other bloke. sian massey did a good job better than most male linesmen in the prem. re ben sheppard at least he is not adrian "i cannot present for shit and i like to screw people" chiles.

RE: Andy Gray Sexism - Master Yoda - 26-01-2011 03:35

Perhaps he can take his interactive screen with all its little arrows and formations and go and actually manage a footy team now. Lets see how far he gets in management being his arrogant, condascending, i know it all selfbladewave

RE: Andy Gray Sexism - Mister Gummidge - 26-01-2011 04:02

I can't say I'm sad to be seeing him go, since I've always found him to be smug, self satisfied and irritating. I also can't say I'm particularly surprised, considering Sky was run by a woman for a significant number of years, was the company to pioneer female anchors on coverage of men's sport and dedicates a decent amount of airtime to women's events. If/when Keys comes back, expect a grovelling, and thoroughly justified, on air apology from him.

I don't see the irony, myself. It's not sexist of us to appreciate ladies getting their tits out. Same as its not sexist for the ladies to go onto equivalent sites to look at blokes showing off their cock-n-balls. Thats called equality!

It is however, sexist of Gray and Keys to claim that Sian Massey or women in general, have no place in football. They are judging individuals by gender and not by ability. Thats sexism!
