Pakistan 317/7 off 50 overs

Kenya 112 all out

Pakistan won by 205 runs

Pakistan got off to a dreadul start by losing two early wickets also it was very slow too however the middle order came to the rescue and four batsmens all scored half centuries as that boosted to a score over 300. Kenya got off a useful start however wickets started to tumble and their were never really in the hunt although atleast their showed some improvement this time round.

I'm not sure how it could be the last, since the next one's already being organised! It's been cut down to 10 teams though instead of the 14 in this one, so I assume it won't last as long as 43 days.

West Indies 222 all out off 47.3 overs

South Africa 223/3 off 42.5 overs

South Africa won by 7 wickets

West Indies got off to a poor start by losing Chris Gayle with only 3 balls bowl into the 1st over however Devon Smith and Darren Bravo put 111 runs runs for the 2nd wicket but once Darren Bravo departed then wickets were falling at regular intervals and ended up bowled for 222 which is a poor score really. South Africa also got off to a poor start by losing 2 early wickets however Graeme Smith and De Villiers put on 119 runs for the 3rd wicket and since from there runs came very easy for South Africa.

RE: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - birdlime - 25-02-2011 16:01

New Zealand 206 all out off 45.1 overs

Australia 207/3 off 34 overs

Australia won by 7 wickets

New Zealand got off to a dreadful start and at one stage there were 73/6 however good lower order batting boosted the score over 200 however thats a rubbish score on flat pitches. Australia got to an excellent start by putting 133 runs for the 1st wicket however they lost a couple of wickets but were always on top and runs were coming quitely nicely for them.

Bangladesh 205 all out off 49.2 overs

Ireland 178 all out off 45 overs

Bangladesh won by 27 runs

Bangladesh got off to a flying start by putting 53 runs in just 6 overs however once they lost the 1st wicket runs were difficult to come and Ireland bowled very well and kept it tight. Ireland got to a steady start but lost wickets in regular intervals which made this match very close and could have gone either way.

No surprise results so far. I think the format of this competition is very poor. I'd like to see 16 teams in and have 4 groups of 4. You would have more teams but less matches and not such a drawn out first round.

Pakistan 277/7 off 50 overs

Sri Lanka 266/9 off 50 overs

Pakistan won by 11 runs

Pakistan got off to a steady start by losing regular wickets however Younis Khan and Misbah ul Haq put 108 runs for the 4th wicket that got them a respectable score off 277. Sri Lanka got to a slow but steady start however they collapsed from 76/0 to 96/4 that really dent their hopes even though there was some useful contributions lower down the order however they were always behind the run rate.

India 338 all out off 49.5 overs

England 338/8 off 50 overs

Match Tied

India got off to a decent start however Tendulkar and Gambhir put on 134 runs for the 2nd wicket and there was useful contributions in the middle order however they collapsed from 305/3 to 338 all out still a good score. England got off to a fast start losing a couple of wickets however Strauss and Bell put on 170 runs for the 3rd wicket but once Bell departed then England collapsed and wickets were falling like dominoes but i have to say this was a crazy match.

I'm a hindu indian but was born in the UK. I support England in the Ashes but India in all other formats. So i guess a tie was the best result for me. Probably one of the best ODI's I have ever seen. Great game.

RE: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - birdlime - 28-02-2011 20:50

Zimbabwe 298/9 off 50 overs

Canada 123 all out off 42.1 overs

Zimbabwe won by 175 runs

Zimbabwe got off to a poor start by losing 2 wickets for just 7 runs however Taibu and Craig Ervine put on 181 runs for the 3rd wicket and there was useful contributions from the lower order which boosted the score to 298 which is a good enough score to defend. Canada started off very poorly by losing 3 wickets for just 7 runs and there were never in the races really and there just added 1 more run then last time overall Canada need to learn the basics of cricket because a world cup should be competitive not one sided.

West Indies 330/8 off 50 overs

Netherlands 115 all out off 31.3 overs

West Indies won by 215 runs

West Indies got off to a good start by putting 100 runs for the 1st wicket and most of the batmens got useful starts as they score 330 which was a good score. Netherlands started poorly and only Tom Cooper scored a useful 55 but the rest just couldn't cope with Kemar Roach bowling.

Very true. How many runs do India need before they can be confident of defending their total?

RE: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - William H Bonney - 01-03-2011 11:21

India and England set the tournament alight after it had began with a series of very ordinary matches, but it remains to be seen how many other close matches there will be. About this game, I think England are going to be much happier than India with the tie. In reply to the question above, India weren't very good in the field no matter how good their batting is, so they probably are wondering how they can better defend a total.
