this sucks balls... F1 is an every man sport. now it will go the same way as boxing... after a few races no 1 will be watching especialy if sky make it ppv. which they will have to if there is to be no adverts while the race is run.
for me personaly it wont matter as i will just download the races if they are ppv as i certainly wont be psying £10 for somthing i already payed for with my licanse fee

I very much doubt Sky will show the races on P.P.V.,it's more than likely that the BBC will concentrate on the European Grand Prixs, because the afternoon start times will be more in fitting with the Sunday peak viewing audience.Sky would not make any money from P.P.V for F1,because people would just wait for the highlights later on on the BBC.
Given the excellent coverage that Sky gives to all the sports it shows,it's not like it's a downgrade for coverage of F1.People said when Cricket was taken off the BBC it would be the end of the sport, yet the Cricket coverage is second to none. The BBC when it had the Cricket coverage treated it like crap, paying next to nothing for the rights and constantly interrupting match coverage to go to other sports.Even now when you listen to TMS on the radio in the car you get interrupted by the shipping forecast!
I know for non Sky sports subscribers it's a crock of shit, but this is the way all sport is going to go in the U.K.The BBC can't and shouldn't be allowed to rely on outdated charters that give them a monopoly on anything,be it sport, radio or on-line.
The BBC is a dinosaur, and the day a Government with some balls stands up to them and abolishes the extortionate license fee,and makes them financially viable and not a gravy train, the better we will all be.

Will the Sky races be on Sky 1 (basic channel) or Sky Sports (subscibe channel). And i don't see what's so brilliant about BBC keeping Monaco. It's not a race it's a procession

Whilst I do have sky sports at home, mainly for the premier league and champions league and international cricket matches i am really pissed off that Bernie sold the fans who can't afford the monthly skysports subscription down the river by terminating the bbc contract for next year.

BBC have done excellent coverage of F1, and in the last few seasons it has become so interesting especially with the in depth coverage that the BBC goes into. I am sorely dissapointed that it is on sky sports.

I feel sorry to those who can't afford sky sports

As a long time fan over 20 years this is bad news ,although one silver lining hopefully we'll get rid of the god awful pairing of Jordan and Coulthard and their long string of whitewash bumchum Jake Humphies.

Martin Brundle is brilliant but get him some decent help, not James Allen

This news does not surprise me with the mighty midget still in charge of the sport

RE: Sky to show Formula 1 - The Narcissist - 29-07-2011 22:34

Your right Coulthard is AWFUL, but Eddie is a LEGEND.

This news has left me in very bad mood all day.SadSadSadSadannoyedannoyedannoyedannoyed

RE: Sky to show Formula 1 - phil will - 30-07-2011 00:50

martin brundle is excellent, the bbc should keep him, because they are going to show some of the races they haven't got live in full later on. i don't know why people are complaining, because not much will change

RE: Sky to show Formula 1 - bigguy01 - 30-07-2011 10:55

bbc will be showing half of the season live including the british gp, monaco and the final race. they probably show all the european section of the season: germany, spain (cataluna and valenica), italy, belgium, britian, monaco, final race and one other (hopefully the night race in singapore or abu dabi).

this what the little shite wanted for years to have f1 and subscription tv. the teams want the f1 to be on free to air because of the sponsors.
