Bring back Jet Black and the spitting. Wink

On a more serious note, nice to see that everyone is trying to engage with the subject without going all mental about it.

Are we all growing up and not just looking at girls anymore. Nah, you can look at girls and still be worried about the wider world.

Well done us. Wink

Just need the police and courts to be tough!
With these thugs looting and rioting they need to be charged locked up made to join the army and go into a real war zone.

We need the parents to be punished if they are not punished then they can join there kids.

But, really the community are the parents and they need to teach there kids and work with the police. When there kids do wrong get the police involved one time!

i voted no has there could be miscarrages of justice. when someone is sentenced to say 15 years they should serve 15years with no early release but deduut any time served when released they should serve the same about time on probation/on licence. if they break the terms and conditions of their licence. should adopt the american system of "3 strikes and your out" (25yrs in jail). sentencing has be clear and offer the victims and their families justice and time to heal. also they should do hard labour for petty criminals like breaking rocks.

I would say no to the death penalty but prison life should be much harder and life should mean life no parole for murderers child molesters and rapists

RE: Could the Death Penalty return to the UK - Regenerated - 09-08-2011 22:03

I've voted no to the death penalty, but I do believe that sentences should be far tougher and prison life should reflect the crimes that these people have committed.

Its sickening to read about these crimes involving children in particular, that these beastly people should get a relatively lenient time in jail. Life imprisonment should mean life imprisonment.

One of the big arguments against the death penalty is that there is always the chance of human error, which means that the wrong people could be hanged. Obviously DNA and medical evidence is far more relevant to today's trials and this does lessen the chances of miscarriages of justice, but its never 100 percent. Its a very difficult subject matter to decide on.

I don't see MP's voting in favour of a return to hanging and being of the older generation should really vote for its return but I am personally caught in the middle.

Vast strides have been made with the introduction of DNA and it is far easier therefore to prove someone guilty but I do accept that human errors can still occur. So I think I must say no to its return.

The problem is that the we have become a Nanny State and allowed the Do-Gooders to have far to much say. Punishment is not severe enough for certain crimes and Life should mean Life with no access to television, computers etc and reintroduce Hard Labour. We have enough potholes and roads that need serious repair.

The whole Legal System needs updating, we have far too many outdated laws and loopholes.

Should we bring back the Birch, should we introduce Boot Camps, kick start the Construction Industry by building more prisons and banging up prisoners in thier cells for longer periods, put serious re-offenders into the Army.

Sorry guys if I have gone on a bit but as said the Babeshows are getting rather boring of late except Courtney has stripped off in the office with the oil, got to go.

I don't believe it would be a deterrent. You only have to look at America, serial killer capital of the world. That's besides the point though. Certain criminals deserve to be put to death. Those that rape and kill children for instance, deserve to put down. Would save taxpayer's money I'm guessing also.

Very good point, something I didn't think of at the time, I was thinking too emotively I guess.

As you said, America have capital punishment in some states, and these places still have people sitting on death row, they are queuing to die! Clearly shows they don't care, so clearly it is not a deterent.

Now that I have had a little time to think about it, I can understand situations where there is undeniably evidence / a confession from the guilty, regarding heinous crimes such as paedophilia, Ian Huntely's actions or what Fritzl did, they they deserve to be put to death...so long as the evidence is there

would only come back if we left the european union.

im torn between yes and no wether it should for certain crimes ie child killers part of me says yes but part of me wants them spending rest of there life looking over the shoulders about being attacked and killed in prison.
