actually closing the roof would have changed kicking conditions if they had practiced with the roof open would taken account of the breeze when the roof was closed the breeze is gone so would take some getting used to. wilkinson wasnt missing by inches but feet

hopefully next few games england build some momentum i reckon should get to quarters maybe semi's if we get the aussies TongueTongue

Maybe we wore black to get the some of the all black magic working for us!! We certainly did leave it late, butr like I said, we have to give the Pumas credit for the way they pushed us - after all they did finish third in the last competition so we should have known they would raise their game against us. and it was unusual to see Jonny have an
off - day.

We wore black because somebody at Twickenham has decided to put England in as many different colours as possible to sell more shirts. It'll be red next time.
Great performance from Wales this morning, such a shame they couldn't hang on - I really dislike the Boks. Anyway, the Welsh have been the only one of the home nations to perform in the opening game but knowing them they'll probably go on to lose to Fiji again. It's a funny old game.

Fantastic win for Ireland against Australia

Absolutely. Superb tackling, a magnificent scrum and forwards brilliant in the loose and at the breakdown. If only England's pack could perform like that.

Credit where its due - the Irish had a plan and stuck resolutely to it. They worked so hard to get that result, like any team must to have any chance against the big three southern hemisphere sides.

I'd still fancy Australia to go on and reach the final, but yesterday was Ireland's day. Really impressive performance.

Improvement from England but there's still more to do. The discipline in the first half was woeful and they need to work hard on that but there were flashes of quick ball from the forwards against a hard-working Georgian pack and when we got it the backs looked dangerous - even Hape looked like a decent player.

I hope Ashton breaks a rib with his pointless posing dive that belongs in football

I was surprised at how easily we let teams come back at us - credit to Georgia where it's due. we gave away needless penalties. I'm sure I heard the commentator say that he felt Georgia were good enough for the Six Nations in 10-20 years time. I wouldn't be surprised if they were added in five years' time.

what was more amazing was thatI'm pretty sure Ireland never let Australia score a single point in the second half. Now the Aussies if they qualify - would have the hard route to the final, beating both New Zealand and South Africa.

To be fair to Ashton, madjack, unlike in football there is usually no one near Ashton when he dives. Wink

I agree though he will look like a chump if he drops the ball during the swallow dive. Still it's sport it's meant to be entertainment and you can bet that if an Ashton try with full dive wins the World Cup for England then all the traditional rugger buggers will not give a damn.
