Stuart Pearce has announced that Micah Richards, Craig Bellamy and Ryan Giggs have been picked as the 3 overage players. The remaining 15 players who must all be under 23 will be named next week.

David Beckham will be heartbroken...
Gareth Bale is a possible as he's still only 22.

Barely any tickets have been sold for the football anyway and I'm inclined to think that the inclusion of Beckham wouldn't have made much difference.

Expect to see empty stadia unless they start giving tix away for free.

Well done to Stuart Pearce for picking the team he wants and not bowing to pressure to include Beckham. Pearce flew to Los Angeles recently to watch Beckham, but clearly wasn't impressed enough to pick him for the squad. Team selection has to be on merit, otherwise there's not much point in entering the competition.

pearce's reason is that he wanted more defensive cover thats he picked richards as his 3rd over 23 player.

He hasn't even picked the squad in the first place yet. It's due to be announced this afternoon.
