You'd need a license, and relevant insurance (public liability or similar), as well as conforming to fire and safety regulations, whatever you may think.
I'm sure the girls would be overjoyed at every tom, dick and harry knowing where they work as well, not like they have enough nutters and stalkers as it is, there's a reason they hide behind P.O. Boxes and the like. And how many girls would be willing to perform to a live audience? My guess very few.
On occasion we get to see 'behind the scenes' and there isn't an awful lot of room at these studios, barely room to swing a cat, that's why they have so few sets available. Squeezing in a few punters to ogle the girls (doing goodness knows what if they have no calls to answer), those punters would be needing to pay a few grand each to make it cost effective!
A few punters through the door doesn't really compare to a nationwide audience of potential phone callers.
Many years ago, the Sport got a bunch of their girls to do table-top dancing and lap-dancing, mainly at Circus Tavern Purfleet. It was pretty popular at the time, but most of those girls were porn stars, so more used to going nude, and they used maybe 30-40 girls per night, not the 5 or 6 most of the babe channels have per night, and they used a proper club, which got packed to the rafters ... and still it didn't last, which probably says a lot about the financial logistics.
Anyhow, how is this fighting cencorship? This is basically doing Ofcoms dirty work for them, admitting defeat and walking away from the fight to do something entirely different instead. Ofcom would be laughing in their offices, and having 10 course lunches until christmas if the channels did this.

Good points munch, and I have the same questions as you do. I disagree with the license comment though, as I don't think you need a license to have ten people visit your studio, and the police would have no business interfering. Based on your mention of past example of this, with the renting of a club/pub, it didn't sound like it lasted, but, I did suggest a once a month show, which could be a success. You're right though, that the price for admission would likely need to be much higher, since it's a special event and since no callers would be calling in or texting etc.

But they are not visiting - you are charging an entry fee for a sex show which would mean you need to apply for a sex entertainment licence.

Why does everything have to be so hard and difficult? I remember once at a strip club, three police officers came in to meet with the manager to make sure none of the women were giving lap dances, unless, the owner had a license. Basically, lap dancing is naughty and bad, unless, you pay us money for a license
So, in order to charge people to watch a session, you have to pay to get a license for it?.
I know it may be the law, but it's completely lame and ridiculous, to me at least. Where is the line between selling a TV to a friend, and charging a fee to watch a live show?

You all don't think it's stupid for it to be a law to have to get a license to allow a small group of people to visit your work place???
What goes on inside is private. How is asking someone to pay a fee for a private show once a month on your property any different than selling lemonade and charging for it, and or having a garage sale and charging a price for what you are selling? I've never heard of anyone needing a license to have a garage sale.
Odd examples perhaps, but you don't need a license to have people visit you. I know issues could arrise if someone felt ripped off, even after having paid, and went to the police to complain, but in a better world, the police would tell the person that it was their own responsibilty and that it's not as if they were robbed.
Just seems a bit silly when all it would be is a show that people have put on, and have decided to charge a certain fee for. Fair play.

Annoying isnt it. Even under Thatcher any pub could have 1 or 2 strippers without a sex licence. That all changed in 1998 when pubs were the 2 in a bar law was abolished forced to pay for expensive Health & Safety assessments. My local lost so must trade from Friday evening strips it closed. Then sex encounter establishment licencing was tighened up. Blame Blair (religious convert), Brown (son of a clergyman) and the rest of that crew.
