Well Dan I'm a muscian, I play trumpet in a jazz band and one of the things I allways do before taking the stage is firstly making sure that I have had a through warm up, ie - playing low and long notes to get the lips buzzing, I then tune up with the saxophone player aswell as getting the notes as much in tune with the piano.

After that you still have the possibilty of going out of tune if you don't use your ears properly while playing, you have to be very careful. Also as a drummer I will tune all my skins up too.

At the end of the day the voice is an instrument too and if you can't be arsed to go to the trouble of making sure you are in tune then you are not a true muscian in my book.

Freddie Mercury didn't just turn up and run out onto stage, he spent hours backstage preparing alongside the rest of the band in a highly professional manner.

People pay good money to see you play so you have to deliver. Acts like Britney are cheap manufactured pop alongside shit like Bieber, the music industry at times really makes my blood boil.

Jesus Christ ScottishBloke I didn't know you used so many musical instruments, well done. All I can say is more musicians like Freddie Mercury and less of those shit musicians

I think its an open secret that a large number on the commercial pop side of 'music' use autotune and mime to backing tracks for live performances. We live in an era now where a generation is growing up with the idea that image is more important than actually having any talent thanks mainly to shows like crap-factor and over active record company publicity departments, how else can you possibly explain the popularity of talentess twats like Justin Bieber and One Dire-ection.

As I understand it the concert for the Olympics will be recorded in advance and artists on the day will be miming.

I learned to play the Trumpet when I was 7 years old and the drums when I was 11. I can also play a bit on the piano too, for example I can play most of Bohemian Rhapsody on it. I learned it just by listening to the record with the opening chord to the song being Bb Major.

Ya those talent shows are shit. Also ironic Cheryl Cole judging people on their singing voices, when she can't sing in tune herself

I'll give Cheryl Cole one thing (stop sniggering) Girls Aloud were a decent pop act(possibly because of the other members), but yes quite a lot of acts use autotune nowadays because their vocals are just not good enough

But that's what pop music is nowadays people want instant success, it's no surprise Matt Cardle was dropped by his record label 12 months after he won X Factor and was told by Simon Cowell he was the next big thing only to find he didn't have the talent to back it up.

I have no problem with pop music, there are and have been some great pop acts down through the years, like Duran Duran an Culture Club but they all had talent in some form weather you liked them or not.

You don't have to write your own songs either, Elvis didn't
and you don't have to play instruments, The Temptations and The Supremes didn't, just have some talent and a half decent voice

Do bears shit in the woods?

the Queen jubillee concert i swear JLS was either miming or using Autotune when it almost sounds like the record live then there must be some tweaking involved

mind you must have been a dodgy mic as robbie cliff and even Elton and Sir paul sounded really off in parts of there performances

yeah there is nothing like a good pop band or performer i dare say we all have some pop in our record collections
