I downloaded the mpeg streamclip and can open files on it. I also downloaded the user guide, however didn't find it brilliantly helpful. I still don't understand how to cut bits out.

I've never looked at MPEG Streamclip before, as you'll guess from my posts scattered about I tend towards the more pro apps even if I don't use them all to their full facility.

Anyway, downloaded it, didn't read the guide at all. Took me a couple of minutes to work out how to splice clips, although personally I don't like how roughly you select the section you can't complain for free and tbh there might be another way if you read the docs included in the download.

Just click on the time line at the start of the part you want to trim out, then hold shift and click on the end part. If you aren't quite sure where the end part is just drag whilst holding down the shift key. This will highlight the section to trim out, then just go to edit>trim. Don't get any easier than that so you're out of luck if that is to complicated still Tongue

Ah cheers, got it now. I didn't know you had to hold down shift.

Hi

I just use the free windows movie maker and you can get good results. I used to to make my Sasha's Cabury advert and that seemed to go down well.

Cheers

I did try using windows movie maker, but everytime i loaded up a video it just forze and didn't respond. Just another question, what do people think is the best free video joiner software? Ive tried a few but they either take forever or only work on videos that have been specifically designed to be split and then rejoined.

Can't help with freebie stuff as quite a few years since I looked at apps in that bracket. Came to the conclusion with video editing that, at least back then, this was not something to be done on a zero budget

I use HJ Split as recommended by other users... I have no probs with it!
